Authentic Asian Comes to Cincinnati
Neighborhood: city
Cincinnati, OH 45202
United States of America
Cincinnati, like many other American cities, has experienced an explosion of interest in Asian cuisine. Gone are the days when we all had to suffer through packaged, soggy Chinese egg rolls and chop suey as our only access to any semblance of Asian cooking. The city today has some incredible choices for diners who have become enamoured of fresh, authentic Asian and Asian-fusion delicacies from that entire region.

Mei has been in operation since 2000 with a 30-table capacity and 3 private tatami rooms. They serve lunch and dinner, with Friday service available up untl 10:30.
What's nice here is the dinner combos and the availability of sushi dinners. Broiled cutlets and Broiled freshwater Barbecue eel, which I've never seen on any other menu. Their shrimp tempura dinner has a huge helping of vegetables that sound delightful: pumpkin, lotus root, green pepper, sweet potato, and eggplant. The combo dinners all come with soup, salad and rice. The eel dinner is just $15.75. Seafood items predominate here with an incredible array of fish, shrimp, squid, eel, and crab dishes. What's really neat for customers is that if they find they just love the dishes they've eaten here, Mei also has its own grocery next door. Go in there and just spend an afternoon wandering the isles or looking over their fresh seafood and their canned, bottled and dried items. It's open 7 days but closes at 6:00 on Sundays. Definitely call to see if reservations are necessary before making plans.

Teak Thai in the Mount Adams area, has won several awards for its delicious renderings of Thai delicacies and the Sushi bar. They will even let patrons combine Sushi with the entrees out on the lovely patio. Another special advantage is that the staff can order meals with preferred heat and spice on a scale from 1-10, thus ensuring that the tastes of patrons will be at the forefront and few people will walk out disappointed. Some of the featured items are pad Thai, Massaman chicken, mung bean noodle salad, California rolls, and sashimi. This place is a favorite among locals.

Ko-Sho Japanese Restaurant
215 E 9th St
Cincinnati, OH 45202
(513) 665-4950
Their average main course is around $17. They serve very traditional Japanese foods--fresh sushi, sashimi and fantastic sukiyaki. Ko-Sho is just a short walk from the Aronoff Center near the entertainment district of downtown Cincinnati, this place is inconspicuous and plainly simple in its decor. Dining is casual with commensurate moderate pricing. It is said to serve up some delicious sticky rice with vegetables, and one can enjoy a complete sushi dinner or mix sushi with one of their fine tempuras or their legendary sukiyaki. They serve specialty seafood dishes as well. Ko-Sho is open Mon.-Fri. for lunch and dinner, but is only for dinner from 5-11, and 5-9 on Sat. and Sun. respectively.
