With everything from scallops, to NY steak to a vegetarian sushi roll, Massaki Steakhouse has something for everyone's taste buds.

The restaurant is a very welcoming, nicely decorated place. Massaki is a great place to take the whole family, I promise the kids will enjoy every minute of it When you walk in you see all kinds of sushi flashing before your eyes on the large plasma TV. To your right you have a small bar with a variety of alcohols to choose from, as well as their signature drinks. Near the bar there is a sushi bar with every type of fish or topping you could imagine. They have a few seating options there is you are just coming in for sushi. As you look to your left you see an open room with six square table settings with two grills per each half table. Yes I said grills, they prepare your meal right before your eyes!

They seat you at the large tables, sometimes there are other people there, while other times it may just be your party depending on the size of your group. The good thing about this is it makes for a wonderful dinning experience as you get to meet and greet with the people sitting near you if you choose.

They have several menus to choose starting from a well priced children's menu to their sushi menu. Massaki is known for their Hibachi entrees, these are large portions of food and defiantly worth the money. Hibachi entrees consist of a soup, salad, a small appetizer, steamed or fried rice, grilled vegetables and your choice main meal. The main meals consist of scallops, shrimp, chicken, filet mignon and lobster just to name a few. They offer a Hibachi Dinner for two and Variety combination so you do not just have to choose one item. On their sushi menu they have everything and anything you could want on sushi, ranging from tuna, eel, octopus and for those who prefer no to eat raw fish they have cucumber rolls and California rolls just to name a few. They also are always coming up with new combinations everyday, so there is always a variety of options and new things to try. The most recent special they had last time I was there they had named the Spicy Girl it consisted of spicy tuna, cream cheese, and asparagus, than it is deep fried and topped with a spicy "Dynamite" sauce. All of that in a sushi roll!

After placing your order you are brought your soup and salad and you are greeted by a chef. The chef prepares your food while you eat your soup and salad and whatever appetizer you may have ordered separately. The chef will start by making a large fire in front of you to start up the cooking process. The chefs are friendly and each one has their own tricks they like to perform in attempt to keeping you entertained. I must say they do an awesome job and every time my family and I receive our food we are in "awe" of the new tricks the chefs come up with. After the cooking is all said and done the chefs will play a game with whoever is interested and than leave you to enjoy your meal.

Massaki is a well priced restaurant with excellent service and food. There are a few menu prices that are a little more on the expensive side but they are very much worth it and you will be glad you forked over the extra cash. They also have very reasonable "limited time only" specials such as $7.99 Hibachi Entrees where you get a soup, salad, appetizer and your choice of meal. On Sundays they have $5.50 sushi roll specials and Wednesday and Thursdays they have Kids Night Out specials, where you receive a free kids Hibachi entree.

A few options that are defiantly worth trying when you check out Massaki are the Massaki Special Sushi Roll, the Philadelphia Roll, the Cucumber Roll and the California Special Roll.

Massaki is located in Waynesboro, Va and they are scheduled to open one in Staunton, Va in the next year. My family and I are thrilled and we hope that you enjoy the Massaki Japanese Steakhouse as much as we do.

Check out their website and plan your meal before you even walk through the door, or just write down the address so you can put it in your GPS and ask the server for their favorite Hibachi entree suggestion. Take a break from cooking tonight and take the family out to try something new!
