You don't have to travel to Germany to experience Oktoberfest. These three authentic Bavarian-style villages in Washington, Oregon, and southern California all offer beautiful settings in which to celebrate the bounty of the fall harvest, which is what Oktoberfest is all about. With German beer, live music, dancing, and more, you don't need a passport to celebrate at an authentic Oktoberfest.

This is the largest and longest Oktoberfest in California, and the Alpine Village atmosphere makes it feel authentic. Activities include woodsawing, steinholding, cow milking, omm pa pa bands, German dancers, contests, and of course lots of good food and beer. The village itself will be open; browse through its 22 specialty shops, bakery, meat market, and more. Known as "The Little City from the Alps," the Alpine Village is sure to give you a fun and authentic Oktoberfest experience.

Mt. Angel, Oregon is a small community settled by German pioneers in the 1800s, making it a perfect location for Oktoberfest. The architecture and village setting remind one of the Bavarian countryside, and the annual festival is the largest folk festival in Oregon. There are lots of activities, all which are listed on their website. Highlights include a Kindergarten kids' activities, live authentic music and dancing, arts and crafts show, over 50 Alpine food chalets, and the traditional Biergarten (must be 21), Weingarten, and Alpinegarten. Each venue has live entertainment, authentic food, and German beers and wines. Enjoy this authentic experience with the whole family.
