Author Timothy Hollins' Sacred Ground Will Have You Trembling in Fear

Author Timothy Hollins is really wrapping crime scene tape around the Sci-Fi genre of literature. When I read the synopsis to his book, "Sacred Ground." It really had my mind wondering about the story before I could read it. Like I told you guys, Yulonda is really not into any thing Sci-Fi, mystery or horror. I promised myself that I was going to change that mode of thought this year though. I feel that no matter what genre of literature a story falls from, the important part is how good the story is! Sacred Ground, is a book that has a combination of different types of genres leaked into the story. Romance, murder, supernatural events,are just a few to name. This is so rare with authors now and days. Normally an author sticks to one type of genre and goes on from there. Not Mr. Hollins, for you see, his mind sits outside the box when it comes to his story telling.

YB/AC: Thanks so much for your time and calling me on time. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to interview you.

TH: "No problem. Actually I was referred to you by a good friend of mine by the name of Lady Flava."

YB/AC: Oh yes, she is such a GEM! It's so nice to have such great people looking out for your best!

TH: "True, I most certainly will agree with you on that."

YB/AC: Please let's get right off into the book. What is "Sacred Ground" all about?

TH: "The story takes place in Arielleville, a small town in the Mississippi Delta with a population of "everybody knows everybody". For passers-by and drifters, Arielleville is the archetype of a small southern town. The people breathe out hospitality, the summer days are smothering hot and humid, and locals revel at the mention of an "in-town" trip no matter what the purpose might be. But Arielleville is far from typical.

The story surrounds Detective Austin, a well-learned and decorated detective in San Diego, California, who decides to move back to her native state; Mississippi. She's assigned to the suicide case of one Joseph Reed Jr, a local businessman labeled introvert that comes from a prominent family in Arielleville. While trying to tie-up the loose ends to this case, Austin is quickly engulfed in a bizarre investigation that plots murder, betrayal, kid napping, and a heated love-triangle that just might jeopardize her entire case."

YB/AC: Please tell me a PEPSI and a bag of popcorn comes with your book!

TH: "Trust me, you won't want to do anything else but read the book. It's one of those type of books that you can't put down until it is finished."

YB/AC: Trust you don't have to keep selling to me, I'm sold! When did you know you had a gift for writing?

TH: When I was in fourth grade I recited a poem. I guess I was moved by the impact my poem had on people. It was moving. I was very much the accelerated student, so my writing skills were pretty much above average. My mind was always going outside of the box, so to say.

YB/AC: What are you trying to do with your writings? I mean what is you focus and purpose?

TH: "To pull people outside the box and show them that Sci-Fi is not all about Trekkie's and Lord of the Rings type material. I want to be that author that puts a new face to the genre of Sci-Fi. I want to rid the stereotypes that are associated with Sci-Fi books."

YB/AC: I feel that you are a very busy minded, detailed person that pays attention to detail and looks for change at the register!

TH: "Hey that is the nature of my work. I must be detailed from the start of my craft to the end. Yes, to answer your question though."

YB/AC: I understand you are a spoken word artist and you were also a rapper. What will always be your first love considering the fact that you are very multi-talented.

TH: "Poetry. It's an art of expression. No explanation needed. It's all about my views and how I feel."

YB/AC: Hey, I'm a poet as well and I truly feel you on that tip! I see that you are into shining light onto other authors. What is your publication, Literary Muse all about?

TH: "Literary Muse Publication is aimed at bringing our valued members the very best of amateur and professional pieces of literary works. These pieces can be poetry and short stories from all genres. We just want everyone to practice being a good clean neighbor, by producing material that is not offensive or obscene."

YB/AC: So you have to join?

TH: "Yes, once people join they will have access to the wonderful and exciting world of literature, and aide in enhancing each individual's imagination and creative desire through special events such as poetry and short story contests. The winner receives a monetary prize along with having his/her poem or story posted on the site for all guests and members to view. All participants will remain the sole owner of his/her poem or story posted. Each participant is responsible for obtaining his/her own copyright to the work he/she submits."

YB/AC: That is so great. It is really nice seeing an individual with so much purpose and drive within their life to help others. You know that this will come back to you in many folds. Is there anything else you want people to know about your publication?

TH: "Another "goodie" we offer here is our forum designed for the serious writers. This discussion room is located under "talk to the editor!"
