Autism the Musical

Airing on HBO March 25, 2008

Carmella Mae Dunkin
With autism awareness month starting next week, it is only fitting that HBO is airing, "Autism, The Musical" tonight. Autism The Musical is a created by autistic children with the help of Elaine Hall, founder of "The Mircle Project". You can view a segment on CBS News on tonights show here, CBS News.

For those who do not have HBO, I found a site that led me to HBO, and said that Autism The Musical will be aired online for those of us who are not subscribed to HBO. I hope they are right, because we are parents of a 19 year old autistic boy, and we really want to see this movie, but do not get HBO.

I dedicate this article to my 19 year old son, Mark, who is severely autistic. Mark cannot talk, but he is so loving, and to help him I have created an autism awareness ribbon that I am selling for $5.00 each, this includes postage too. The money we make from these ribbons will help pay for a bike, and a wagon that he can ride in behind the bike, so we can do things as a family. It is hard for Mark to walk, and we have no transportation, so we must walk anywhere we go. If we could get a bike, and a wagon that can hold Marks weight, (he's a light boy), we can do our shopping and things we need to do, without Mark having to walk everywhere. If you would like to buy a ribbon, you can visit Mark's page here: Autism awareness ribbons to help Mark. Our awareness ribbons are made by placing a strip of autism puzzle ribbon over a cloth ribbon, then placing a heart button, or a patch on the center. The ribbons are aproximatly 3 inches long, and about 1 1/2 inch wide.

This is great to know! (By the way, I tried getting to your other articles and couldn't. I kept getting the message that the content would be coming soon, or something like that. I'm sorry I wasn't able to read them.)

Thanks for the great information. Mark looks like he brings a great deal of joy to you. It is both a blessing and a challenge to work with, love, and be loved by autistic children. It sounds as though your son has given you much pleasure.
