"Automatic for the People" by R.E.M -The Best Classic 1990's Music

Michael Stipe led R.E.M to one of the best album of the 1990's. Classic 1990's music, Automatic for the People was R.E.M's eighth album and set this alternative rock band clearly in the main stream. Released in 1992, the album is clearly recognized by critics as the best R.E.M. album, earning the coveted five stars rating by Rolling Stone. Automatic for the People was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards of 1994.

Automatic for the People was released in October 1992 and all songs on Automatic for the People were written by band members Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stipe The album soared to number one and two on the Billboard charts in the US, Australia and the UK selling over 3.5 million copies. Six of the songs on Automatic for the People became singles during the two years after the album's release. The tribute to Andy Kauffman, "Man on the Moon" quickly became a radio favorite followed by "Drive", "Everybody Hurts", "Nightswimmer", "Find the River" and "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight"

The beautiful voice of R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe and the haunting yet sometime rock and roll music of the band members, has kept Automatic for the People at the top of all favorite album charts. As always, R.E.M. delivers the best of classic 1990's music. A two disc edition of the album was released in 2005.
