Autumn birthday parties are wonderful fun. From traditional games like bobbing for apples to special activities like hay rides, an autumn birthday party can really be something special. If your child's birthday falls in fall, check out these ideas for creating the perfect autumn birthday party.

Autumn Birthday Party: The Food. The food is a crucial element of any birthday party and no season lends itself to more quintessential foods than autumn. Of course the food served at an autumn birthday party has to include traditional autumn foods: caramel apples, roasted pumpkin seeds, apple cider, and butternut squash soup, just to name a few. Any fall favorites, foods with the fall harvest in mind, make perfect birthday foods for an autumn birthday party. You can also go with a color theme for an autumn birthday party food spread. Foods can reflect the warm colors of fall such as reds, oranges, yellows, and browns. A beautiful fall feast full of autumn's traditional colors will help make any autumn birthday party special.

Autumn Birthday Party: The Decorations. Decorating for an autumn birthday party is fun and doesn't have to cost a lot of money. For example, centerpieces for the birthday party tables can be as simple as real pumpkins with some ornamental gourds set around them. Fresh apples and corn husks can also play into these economical centerpieces. Indian corn, with its beautiful bright fall colors, looks gorgeous when strung in a line to make a great autumn garland. And don't forget about the most inexpensive autumn birthday party decoration around: leaves! Just gather fresh fall leaves in all their gorgeous colors shortly before the party is to begin. Scatter them around the food, cake, and guest tables. Or float them in small glass bowls of water. Autumn birthday party decorations are simple and natural but look oh, so adorable.

Autumn Birthday Party: The Games and Activities. Classic fall games and activities, such as bobbing for apples and taking a hay ride, are a wonderful way to celebrate at an autumn birthday party. Bonfires are also great fun at autumn birthday parties, complete with roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. For younger children, try making fun paint prints with apples. Just slice apples in half, use a cookie cutter to create a shape in the apple's flesh, and let the children create stamp art using your apple "stamps." Carving or decorating pumpkins is another great activity for autumn birthday party. If you want to try something a little different, buy large gourds to decorate instead of pumpkins. If you have access to the right equipment nothing ends an autumn birthday party better than a traditional hay ride.

Autumn birthday parties are so much fun! Celebrate your child's fall birthday with these fun and easy ideas for an autumn birthday party.
