Autumn always brings me to a thoughtful and observant mood, so on a cold, windy day such as today, I feel moved to try a few haiku.
Wind blows wild and fierce.
Trash cans clash in the streets; cars
Swerve to avoid hits.
Cocooned in a wrap --
Fighting to keep out the wind
and the coming cold.
Leaves fly from branches
In fury, shaken loose by
angry autumn winds.
Perfect day for rest
on the couch with a good book
and a sleepy cat.
