The leaves ignite upon the hilltops
creating the perfect fall glow
as the sun dances across the sky
sinking to the earth and below.
the pale moon rises
above the slumbering world
the stars shimmer bright
around the autumn moon.
the air has a scent
of crisp leaves all around
the cool, soothing nights
who knows what's in store?
The scent of fresh doughnuts
and cider in the morn
the pumpkins to be carved
and left at the door.
The Autumn moon watches over
the long-growing nights
as we begin to prepare
for cold winter lights.
