Autumn Time

Teresa Graham
The once green leaves are turning orange, brown, russet and gold,

Gathering on lawns, streets, and fields forming mosaic piles that children jump in by the load.

Children laughing happily as another school day ends.

They don warmer jackets and jackets to keep themselves warm from the October wind.

It's Autumn in my neighborhood.

Soon children are riding their bicycles through the neighborhood,

Others are on the neighboring field playing football by the woods.

Little boys dreaming of being in the big leagues as they talk big game.

Nearby, the teenage girls play a quick game of basketball talking the same.

It's Autumn in my neighborhood.

Even though I enjoy sitting out on my step,

Watching the leaves blow in the wind which has a hint of weather wet.

I feel the coldness of the early evening air.

Which as the wind picks up moves me closer to my livingroom chair.

I pick up my half empty water bottle thinking "all is good".

I love autumn in my neighborhood.
