Autumn's Golden Kiss

Why Autumn is My Favorite Season

Donna H. Davey
The wind, chill, and rain hints of an approaching change: autumn. It is the season that awakens my joy with the wild wind, the smell in the air and the changing colors of the leaves painted in bright shades of amber and garnet. It's all so elegantly decayed and very suiting to my mood because of its overall warmth. What could be better or more pleasant than tender romance, cozy fires, mugs of spiced tea, indulgent baking, and friends and family to share them with?

When the colors are so rare and vibrant it's easy to be outdoors and to feel a sense of affinity with nature. Perhaps autumn is so well loved because the season is the shortest and we tend to appreciate more what passes through our lives so quickly. We don't have time to grow impatient with fall because its here so briefly.

The most intense of fall color occurs in in areas such as New England, while The most varied fall color, as well as the longest lasting, occurs in areas such as the southern Appalachians.
