Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo Review

One thing that I almost never find myself buying is shampoo. The reason for this is because it is a common gift that I get from my mom at Christmas time and for my birthday. Initially this may sound like a not-so-fun gift, but in actuality it is wonderful gift because my mom tries to pick natural and organic products that I would not normally get for myself for the cost. It was not that long ago that I used the last of a shampoo that I received as a gift and I found it worth reviewing. This product was Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo.

I was familiar with this brand a little bit because I had tried their Weightless Nourishing Baby Lotion before in the past. However, I was not sure what to expect from their shampoo for adults. I liked the idea of lemon shampoo and thought that the idea of this signature ingredient removing dulling residues with its acidic properties sounded great. Shea butter was also in the shampoo and is said to add shine to hair with it fatty acid triglycerides that it is rich in. I donate my hair when it gets long enough so I am always looking at how strengthening or damaging a hair product will be when I use it. I was quite pleased with the Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo because it was not damaging to my hair. I attribute this to not only the lemon and shea butter in it, but all of its ingredients.

The Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo consisted of purified water, cocamidopropyl betaine, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, sodium cocoyl sarcosinate, coconut acid, babassuamidopropalkonium chloride, organic citrus limonum peel, which is lemon, calendula officinalis flower and chamomilla recutita flower extracts, and butyrospermum parkii, which is shea butter. Additionally there was also vegetable glycerin, bisabolol, which is chamomile, ethylhexylglycerin, arginine, which is amino acid, panthenol, which is pro-vitamin B5, tocopherol, which is vitamin E, organic citrus medica limonum peel oil, which is more lemon, and other essential oils. In the formula there were no sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, parabens, harsh preservatives, grapefruit seed extract, or synthetic fragrances or colors. Plus the ingredients are 100% vegetarian and 70% organic.

I was very happy with receiving Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo. I noticed though that it was more effective if I used conditioner. This is not that big of a deal, but if you are not a fan of having to use conditioner this is something to consider before buying this product. Since it was a gift I am not sure how much it sells for in stores, but I did find it online for about 6 and 7 dollars. There is 11 ounces of shampoo for this amount so it last a long time. The directions do not require double washing so that makes it last twice as long. The directions just say to apply to wet hair, massage into a rich lather, and then rinse. This is what I did and would do it again if I found another bottle of this shampoo.
