Avatar: A Milestone in the Movie Industry

Four Years in the Making

Carlo Juancho Funtanilla
It is said that if your time passed by so quickly in a theater, the movie is good. Well this is what I experienced when I watched James Cameron's Avatar, but good is an understatement it was the greatest movie I have ever seen so far. I did not realize that it was a two and a half hour movie until I saw the movie's website.

An Epic Movie

The Avatar is truly an epic movie it is a milestone in the movie industry. It will surely change how the next movies will be made. The technology to produce Avatar was invented for this film. James Cameron had the idea and concept for this film fifteen years ago but the technology to make this movie was not available back then.

The movie was totally exciting from start to finish. I did not even thought of what would happen next because I was too busy enjoying every single scene in the movie. It never stopped amazing me from scene to scene. This movie is so good that you will want to be a character in the movie.

The concept and 3D animation is spectacular. You will not be able to distinguish which objects or characters are animations from the real ones. The sound tracks are all original and it complements the scenes so well that it will set your emotions with the scene.

Precious Floating Ores

This movie is about a human expedition team, sent to mine a precious floating ore in Pandora. Pandora is a moon light-years away from earth. This ore is worth 20 million dollars a kilo. The expedition consists of security forces and scientists. An inactive marine named Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) was chosen to participate in the expedition.

Pandora resembles pre historic Earth, It has gigantic trees taller and bigger than sky scrapers. Floating mountains, the locals and animals can communicate through a biological cord which all the living creatures in Pandora has. Pandora was like a Shangri-la you will enjoy the scenery in this movie.

The Human Expedition

The timeline was set in the future the humans already have the capability to travel at light speed. They arrived in Pandora the locals are still primitive in technology. There are many tribes in Pandora one of them the Na'vi masters of gigantic dinosaur like birds.

Jake Sully was given a mission to infiltrate the tribe and convince them to relocate. The precious ore that the expedition is after is sitting right under the Na'vi village which is a gigantic tree that is so big that skyscrapers will look like twigs.

Jake Sully had to live like the Na'vi to learn their ways. The Na'vi studied him as well so that they will know more about their potential enemies. In the process of living with the Na'vi Jake Sully learned that the Na'vi is far different from the human's way of thinking. Jake Sully decided that destroying the village is not worth it to mine the ores.

The expedition was then divided between those who are after the precious ore and those who want to protect Pandora and its rich natural wonders. The scientists discovered that they can learn precious things far greater than the value of the floating ores.

This movie waited fifteen years for its premier night and is said to cost more than $250 million dollars and took four years in the making. It is the most expensive film so far, Avatar is expected to earn a billion dollar worldwide. Well all I could say is that all the long wait, the production cost and the technology that was invented for this film is worth it. It well deserves for the billion dollar sales that it is expected to make.
