Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen: Consumer Review

Learn If Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen is What You Need for Better Skin

Pat Anthony
Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen is a new product for me. I've been looking for something to use as a sunscreen, and was pleasantly surprised to find Aveeno has such a product that includes a moisturizer.

Being familiar with some other Aveeno products, and having a coupon that offered a $1.00 savings, I was ready to try Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen. The fact that this product, which is part of Aveeno's Active Naturals line, could do two jobs intrigued me. If I could skip the moisturizer because I was applying a sunscreen, I could save a few precious minutes each day.

Many of us notice as we get older our skin seems a little dry, and is in need of a moisturizer on a daily basis. The Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen is pleasantly light on the skin. The fragrance is so soft, it is almost non existent. The fact that it offers SPF 15 surprises me, as the lotion does seem to disappear almost immediately.

At this time I am using the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen on my entire body. I feel using this product under my face makeup, which also has a sunscreen, gives me an extra chance to escape next years wrinkles. The possibility of preventing skin cancer should be the first thought, but I suspect it may not be for some of us.

The tube of Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen that I purchased is in an 8.0 oz tube. It contains natural colloidal oatmeal. Made in Canada for the Johnson & Johnson Company, the product cost me $7.99. With the amount I use daily, and the coupon I had for this product, it will cost me just a few cents per day to use.

Not only does Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen contain natural colloidal oatmeal, it offers UVA and UVB protection. As a reminder, UVB is the ray that tans the top layer of your skin. UVA is the ray that goes to the next level, and is what does even more damage than UVB. We need protection from both. Some sunscreens do not offer this. For more details see the links included at the end of this article.

Most of us are familiar with the controversy about UVB and UVA protection. This has been an issue discussed on the news. While we need some exposure to the sun daily, perhaps 15 minutes without sunscreen, we also need protection from the sun regularly. Applying a product like Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen to the entire body makes sense. Sun can penetrate through our clothing, even when you think you are safe.

Although I have tried some products that gives a higher SPF than Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion offers, I was not happy with the feel of these products on my skin. I can't spend my day feeling like I am wrapped in a plastic bag! With this Aveeno product, my skin still feels like skin.

The active ingredients listed on the container for Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen include Avobenzone, Octisalate, Octocrylene, and Oxybenzone.

Aveeno Active Naturals is made in Canada for the Johnson & Johnson Company and is a registered trade name for this product.
