Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads: A Review

One of the top brands of facial and body care products, Aveeno, tends to be more expensive than some of the other brands I have used for facial care, such as Oil of Olay and Dove. I typically pass by Aveeno products for this reason, although I have heard positive comments about their body lotions. I decided to give Aveeno a try for face care. Aveeno Daily Cleansing Pads can be found at most drug stores and retail stores such as Target. I purchased them at CVS for $7.99.

Aveeno Daily Cleansing Pads come in a large light green tub. 28 pre-moistened, dual textured pads come in each container. Upon twisting the lid and removing the plastic protective cover, I found a neat stack of large (3.25 inch) facial cleansing pads. A light pleasant fragrance wafted to my nose. Each pad is moistened, with one side bearing small raised bumps while the other side is smooth. Directions state to wet face and massage pad on skin to work up a lather. The smooth side of the facial cleansing pad is to clean skin and remove dirt for delicate skin areas such as under the eyes, while the textured side is for exfoliation and to lift away dullness and impurities. Upon completion of cleaning, the pad should be discarded and your face rinsed. Aveeno states that the pads should not be flushed. These cleansing pads can be used for daily facial cleaning.

Aveeno Daily Cleansing Pads with moisture-rich soy extracts are designed to help even out skin tone in addition to cleaning and leave "brighter, naturally radiant skin" according to the package. Aveeno states the dual cleansing pads with soy are gentle enough for everyday use and even for those with sensitive skin.

Skeptic of whether my skin would break out using facial cleansing pads as it has with other brands, I decided to give Aveeno a try. The fragrance is pleasant and not overbearing, and each pad has the right amount of cleanser on it for cleaning my face and neck. Aveeno's Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads were quick to work up to a lather on my wet skin, and the smooth side of the pads provided excellent cleaning of my skin, removing dirt and makeup. I even used it on my eyelids to remove mascara and eye shadow. Dirt and makeup debris were visible on the pad when I looked at it. Once cleansing was complete, I turned the pad over and used the textured side to exfoliate my chin, cheeks, neck, and forehead. You can feel the textured bumps, but they are so gentle and smooth that it was hard to believe I was actually exfoliating! One final check to see how this product fared compared to my typical brand was to use toner. I typically use toner to help clean my pores and remove additional makeup after normal cleansing. To my surprise and delight, the Aveeno Daily Cleansing Pads removed all my foundation and toner has proved to be redundant. There is no residual dirt and makeup left after using Aveeno Daily Cleansing Pads! In addition, using these pads left my skin feeling fresh, smooth, and extremely clean, but also moisturized.

I have been using Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads for two weeks now and am thrilled with this product. In addition to keeping my skin clear and free of dirt, oil, and new breakouts, it has also helped to clean my pores and my skin appears to be brighter with a natural glow. My skin has not broken out as it has in the past with other cleansers that exfoliate, and I have been able to stop using toner to remove makeup that my old cleansers usually leave behind. While you may pay an extra couple dollars to purchase Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads, you will also save on other products you may have to typically use with other facial cleansers such as toner, moisturizer, and cotton pads.

While my thoughts on Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads are largely positive, I do feel that the pads themselves are a bit on the large size which can make cleaning makeup off your eyes a bit awkward. I feel somewhat guilty throwing the pads in the trash can after using them and adding to environmental waste rather than using a facial cleanser that does not use pads that have to be thrown away. However, I am reconciling my use of Aveeno Daily Cleansing Pads with the knowledge that I no longer have to buy other products to help remove dirt and makeup left behind from my previous cleanser, no longer have to use cotton pads for using toner, and have been able to reduce the use of other cleansers, eye makeup remover, and moisturizer just by using this one product. In the end, Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads have more pluses than minuses and will help me leave a smaller impact on the environment (and on my pocket book).

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads have been given a rating of Editor's Choice in Allure magazine, and rightly so. I strongly recommend this product for daily cleansing, especially for those with sensitive skin as I have. My skin condition has improved between using these Daily Cleansing Pads and Aveeno Daily Facial Scrub, and I have been able to eliminate additional products from my cleansing repertoire. While the price may be a bit steeper than Dove or other facial cleansing products, the results are well worth it.
