Avoid the Biggest Disaster on Thanksgiving

It's a Disgusting Mess

Do you think the family coming over is a big deal? Maybe, it is cooking all the food without burning anything? Do you think cleaning the house is a big deal?

What do you think is the most common problem on Thanksgiving?

Well, it's none of those. The most common problem that happens on Thanksgiving is your garbage disposal gets clogged leaving you with tons a garbage and quite a mess.

If you speak with plumbers across the country, they will tell you the busiest day of the year is the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Is it because we cook so much food? No, guess again.

It's the skins from peeling the potatoes. They get caught in the garbage disposal causing it to back up and break down. And getting this fixed can cost about $200.

The best thing to do this year is to peel your potatoes for mashing over the trash. Be sure to do the same with turnips, sweet potatoes, squash, eggplant or any other skins you may use. A little bit of skins in the garbage disposal is alright, but more than that spells "DISASTER".

These disasters happen year after year, but until it happens to you, nothing gets done.

You can try fixing it with a plumbers snake. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

You can try taking the pipes under your sink apart. It is a messy disgusting job.

Most likely, you won't have much luck.

Your best bet is to tell everyone helping you to avoid using the garbage disposal that day. There will be turkey skins and enough various leftovers going in the sink as it is. The grease alone can stop it up.

If you follow this advice, you will have one less disaster on Thanksgiving. If not, keep your plumber's phone number handy and be prepared to hand over quite a bit of hard earned cash on Black Friday.
