Avoid High Blood Pressure and Other Conditions with the Right Salt

Himalayan Salt Fulfills the Body's Need Without Doing Harm

C. M. Barrett
Like many other processed foods, the refined table and cooking white stuff that is called salt is a far cry from the natural ingredient. Sodium chloride makes up 97.5% of table salt, with the other 2.5% being mostly moisture absorbents and iodine. In addition, refined table salt is dried at more than 1,200° Fahrenheit. This process eliminates many of its natural chemical structures and nutritional value.

Because sodium chloride is an inorganic and basically unnatural substance, the body diverts cellular water in an attempt to neutralize it and break it down into sodium and chloride. This leads to a fluid imbalance in the cells.

In the long run, the result may be inflamed tissues, water retention, hypertension, rheumatism, gout, arthritis, and kidney and gall bladder stones.

Many people have turned to sea salt as an alternative. However, with the current toxic state of much ocean water, you need to know exactly where the salt was collected.

The safest and healthiest way to get your salt needs fulfilled is probably Himalayan salt. This salt is millions of years old and is uncontaminated by toxins and pollutants. Because its 84 minerals are in colloidal form, they are small enough for the cells to process. In addition, Himalayan salt is hand-mined and hand-washed.

Proponents of Himalayan salt, including the widely respected authority, Joseph Mercola, M.D., claim that Himalayan salt, among other functions, helps to regulate water levels in the body for correct functioning, promotes stable pH balance in the cells, aids vascular health, helps to regulate blood pressure, and reduces muscle cramps.

Changing to Himalayan salt won't completely remove your exposure to harmful table salt, if you eat processed foods, as a large majority of Americans do. Changing to freshly prepared food is another step in developing a healthier eating pattern. Whether you take that step or not, you can change the quality of the salt that comes out of your shaker by switching to Himalayan salt.
