Avoid Sales Pitches in Affiliate Marketing Articles

Melanie L. Marten
Internet marketers realize the value of affiliate marketing articles. Through the increasing popularity of bum marketing techniques and content-based advertising campaigns, affiliate marketing articles have taken center stage in the online business world. Not everyone understand how to maximize their effectiveness, however. Some people get it completely wrong.

What is an Affiliate Marketing Article?

An affiliate marketing article is, at its most basic, a niche-specific keyword article designed to attract targeted traffic to the link in the author's bio at the end of the article. Online business owners use various tools to research hot keywords in their niche and use them to draw visitors. Since most of these keywords are actually keyword phrases, also called long-tail keywords, the affiliate marketing article should focus on that specific topic closely.

What is a Sales Pitch?

Everyone inside and outside of the internet marketing world knows what a sales pitch is. It is whatever a sales person says or writes to try to convince you to buy something. In internet marketing, 'buy something' may often translate into signing up for a newsletter, or joining a group as well.

Since the affiliate marketing article is designed specifically to get the reader to buy something or sign up for a list, some believe it should be a sales pitch. Nothing is further from the truth.

The most important and lucrative commodity on the internet is information. People do not search for advertisements, they search for answers to their questions or new data about what interests them. If people are seeking it, this is what an affiliate marketing article should provide. Not only is it difficult to properly keyword a sales pitch, it will not translate into visitor click-throughs or sign ups.

Imagine for a moment your last foray onto an internet search engine. What did you search for? For demonstrative purposes, I will use the example of skin care. If you search for "how to get rid of pimples," chances are you are looking for tips and tricks that will stop blemishes from appearing. This is what an affiliate marketing article should provide. What do you do if you are faced with a page hawking the latest skin cream?

The majority of sales on the internet are not made the first time someone clicks through to a product page. Affiliate marketing articles full of information, are designed to give the visitor something that will convince them to come back for more. If you can get return visitors to your website or sales page, you have a greater chance of making that sale.

An affiliate marketing article is a vital tool to all online business today. Providing information to those who seek it is not only a great way to get them to click through and buy or sign up with you, it is an excellent way of building trust and brand recognition. This type of affiliate marketing article helps increase profits by creating loyal customers.
