Avoid These Internet Marketing Myths

A Personal Perspective About Misleading Internet Marketing Information Online

MichaelTaylor

Internet marketing can be defined as the marketing of goods or products and services by using the Internet as the medium to do so. A myth can be stated as a conventional view, idea or story of an event or situation created to reveal some perspective of a society culture or that which explains a particular practice, philosophy or phenomenon. Therefore, even in Internet Marketing, there are myths or what can be viewed as not totally factual information from a personal perspective.

Money investment is not required for Internet marketing success.

This is just a very untrue myth. No one who is serious about his/her success on the Internet (especially in a business perspective) can expect to survive without some form of cash investment. So you do need money to create, start and progress in business on the internet. Real money is required for web hosting cost, advertisement, technical support, and such alike. Free promotion is there on the internet, but what is free may not be effective for a real business to succeed. I am not aware on any real successful business Web sites on the internet that did not spend money to succeed online.

Internet marketing success is for everyone.

Now if this was a factual statement or case, all Web sites would succeed and none would fail. I have been online since 1999 and seriously since 2005. I have participated in different small business Web sites and some had to be changed or modified because of un-desirable results. I have also seen many of my other small business internet associates cancel their business for ever or drastically changed their business concepts or business models or methods. Not everyone will succeed in intent marketing. Seeking and receiving professional or expert advice (especially on money management and computer technology support) is essential. Many do not realize this, or just by neglect or error, overlook this fact. If and when they do they will not succeed.

Any traffic to your website is for your own success.

One of the most essential points about visitors to a website has to do with real relevance. No one wants just useless hits to their websites. Real internet businesses (designed for success) desire relevant convertible traffic to their sites. So while email marketing to targeting people is still very good advertising traffic, general traffic from social network (such as traffic exchanges) may not be the most desirable for success online. Search engine traffic is still excellent since it can be based on relevant key words from the website tags to attract the required clients and customers. All general traffic from diverse sources will most likely not bring the desired results. You may only see your Web site hit counter or Alexa ranking change upwards, but still not receive any sales or money from customers online. Real relevant traffic is a must for success online.

Everyday listing on the first page of Bing or Google Search Engine is a must for Internet Marketing success.

Base on the fact that Bing and Google Search Engines attract so many millions of users each day, everyone in serious internet marketing would want to be listed on their first pages every day. But is this possible? Maybe it is not. You can ask Search Engine experts for advice and they may tell you that you can be listed on the first page for a few days or a week, but not every day. The logic about this is that changes in the search engines systems will occur and that may very well affect your listing status. Re-submission (paid or free) is a must requirement to remain on their systems. And placement on the first pages will still be difficult to achieve every day. The best thing is to use other effective advertising methods to supplement or complement your needs (such as email marketing as mentioned above). You will have to decide on the most cost effective method for your needs.

A professionally designed website is not necessary for success.

Remember that if you are really serious about success on the Internet, you must do all things right. This includes designing the website so it will be user friendly and effective in achieving your desired plan. Links on the site must always work. If you are using the secure (https web address) site procedure, make sure you have the correct secure system. To encrypt your website data for transmission is absolutely necessary in all cases where personal financial information from clients, such as credit or bank account data, is required. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) was created for this very purpose. Your website meta tags, description, key works for search engines and other such design features are necessary for you own success. So to ignore this aspect and desire success is a myth that has never worked from my experience.

A crucial final point in this respect is to always seek expert or professional help that you can afford. There are really good website design, marketing and promotion professionals who are not cheap or expensive but reasonable enough that you may be able to afford their services. If you can so some of the work yourself, that will help and ask then ask the experts to focus on the really hard part of your website for Internet marketing success online.

In ending, Internet marketing is the marketing of goods or products and services by using the Internet as the medium. A myth is can be stated as a conventional view, idea or story of an historical event which purpose is to reveal some aspect of a global perspective of a society culture or that which explains a particular practice, philosophy or phenomenon. From a personal perspective, to succeed online, you need to avoid these myths mentioned above (and other myths) that will hinder your success. Always seek professional help and remember that it takes real personal effort and discipline to succeed online.
