Bold, Dark Lashes
Although it's mostly touted as a lengthening mascara, the Avon SuperExtend Mascara does well at darkening lashes and making them look dramatic and full. Compared to bare lashes, the mascara made eyes stand out well by adding volume. Since it produces a dramatic look, Avon SuperExtend is good mascara for creating night makeup looks or dramatic daytime looks. It may not be as good a choice for office makeup as it may be too bold.
Slow-Drying Mascara
Most mascaras dry almost instantly after applied to the lashes. This is important since the mascara could mess up once you start blinking. Unfortunately, Avon SuperExtend Mascara takes a long time to dry. Even fifteen minutes after it was applied, my upper lashes were still sticking to my lower lashes with every blink. It can be really annoying in the time after applying makeup, especially if you have to hop in the car right away to get to work or an event.
Great Lengthening
As promised, Avon SuperExtend is good at lengthening eyelashes. It adds to the length of the lashes, which is perfect for those who have short eyelashes. I noticed an added length of around five to ten percent. This length is further improved with extra coats of the mascara. With extra coats though, you also have added lash thickness, which may not be desirable for some users.
Flaking
Avon SuperExtend Mascara has performed one of the deadly sins of mascara: it flakes. While the first five hours of the day produced lovely mascara, any later and you'd find black flakes flitting down onto your cheeks underneath your eyes. This isn't okay. Good mascara will stay put on your lashes all day until you have the time to take it off with makeup remover. Avon SuperExtend doesn't give you that chance. It starts jumping ship before the day is done. If you want to wear this mascara, apply it later in the day so it's still fresh by the time you go to bed.
Conclusion
Although Avon SuperExtend Mascara does what it promises by lengthening and adding volume to lashes, it falls short in other areas. With the slowly drying formula that flakes before the day is out, this mascara isn't a very good choice. Still, if you're set on purchasing it, you can buy it from an Avon representative for a suggested retail price of $8.50.
