Avon's Color Changing Mask

Traci Brown
Quality, affordable skin care is often hard to find. Finding a product that actually does the job it claims to do is even harder. Avon however, has done it once again.

The Color Changing Mask is part of Avon's Clearskin® product line. The product description says you're just minutes away from cleaner, smoother skin. Exactly how can a regular facial mask complete this task? I mean, after all it's not a scrub.

Using this product is easy, and allows for a few stress free minutes for your self. To use, wet your face and apply evenly. You'll be waiting about five minutes, as this can take five minutes or more to actually change colors. Once the mask has gone from a light blue to white, it's time to rinse.

I only have a few problems with this product and they begin with the mask changing colors. The mask is such a light blue; it can be hard to tell exactly when it's changed to white. Waiting the recommended five minutes on the label isn't always a sure thing, and since keeping a watch in the bath isn't exactly the best idea, actually deciding when it's time to wash this off can be a hard thing to decide. The mask is also a bit thick, so spreading it out pretty evenly can be a bit hard, so if it's thicker in some spots than others, those areas could be ready to be rinsed while you have a few more minutes to go for other areas.

Some people may not feel this working as it's supposed to tingle to reveal that it's working, but I've found, that on most occasions, this doesn't tingle much or at all. So, all you can do is wait. Others may not like the smell as it has a medicine type odor to it. If you hate that type of smell, it's best to skip using this product all together.

After the mask is finally white, it's time to rinse. Rinsing this can be a pain as it sometimes feels as if you're not getting it all. You'll want to spend a bit longer rinsing when it reality you've gotten it all. Sometimes, this mask can dry out your skin leaving it a bit dry, sometimes flaky. If you are prone to dry skin, I recommend keeping a moisturizer handy. Using this mask the recommended once to twice a week will help cut down on dry skin.

Aside from all the cons I have listed above about this product, it does have a good quality about it, it does work. My skin looks brighter and does feel smoother after using this mask. My skin also looks cleaner after using this product as others just can't seem to 'clean' like this mask can.

If you're in the market for a cheaper mask product that does work, and do not mind maybe having to use extra lotion every once in awhile, then I would definitely recommend this product.
