Though this movie is entertaining, stark fans of the book series by Anna Sewell may be disappointed in some of the liberties taken with the story in the film.

This 1978 movie starring Walter Matthau is the story of a young boy, Casey, from a family that trains race horses, who befriends a disadvantaged horse named Casey's Shadow. "Casey's Shadow" is an inspiring horse film that is appropriate for all ages, and adults will enjoy Matthau's performance in the film.

"The Neverending Story"

Though the movie does not center entirely around the horse, "The Neverending Story" contains a harrowing and emotional scene with one of 80's cinema's great horses, Artax. Artax is the noble steed of the fantasy hero of the film, Atreyu, portrayed in the film by actor Noah Leslie Hathaway.
