Axelrod, Gibbs Threaten that Obamacare Will Pass by This Week Despite Lack of Votes from Main Dem Vote Counter
Appearing on ABC's This Week and Fox News Sunday, respectively, Axelrod and Gibbs seemed to enjoy living in their own, little, private world called "Obamaworld," which is unique in that it apparently is divorced from reality so much so as not to make sense anymore. They must really be deluded-or is it just massive arrogance that you or I can't even fathom yet?-because a very recent tally by The Hill established that Democrats as it stands now just don't have the votes necessary to overcome all the no votes from defecting Democrats and the GOP. In fact, even by the rosiest of scenarios that assume many factors breaking for Pelosi, she still wouldn't have the votes necessary. An example? In order to pass Obamacare in the House by just one, pathetic vote (216-215 in favor), Pelosi would somehow have to work a miracle and convince all 34 Democrats who are currently solid no votes along with a few of the more than a dozen who are undecided to in fact support it!
Furthermore, the main vote counter for the Democrats, James Clyburn of South Carolina, has publicly admitted that he doesn't have the votes. Said Clyburn, "No, we don't have them as of this morning, but we've been working this thing all weekend." In an ominous note, though, Clyburn nonetheless proclaimed confidence in the bill passing, which makes you wonder what kind of tactics the Democrats are up to.
Can it be done, you ask? Can the Democrats snatch victory (which would in fact be a resounding defeat for all Americans) from the jaws of defeat? Well, only if they're unethical, underhanded and start to use that old fall-back trick of theirs: the bribe. So in short...maybe Pelosi can still, unfortunately, pull this off...but only with a lot of dirty arm-twisting.
In example, Mr. No-taxpayer-money-for-abortions himself, Bart Stupak of Michigan, has gone on the record publicly and disclosed that he and other Democrats who are currently non-committal on Obamacare are getting pressured by all the traditional, Democrat special interest groups! Those include the ever-pestilent unions as just one example. In addition, other pressure tactics-or maybe the more sinister "intimidation tactics" is the appropriate term here-against Stupak include threats by his fellow Democrats to bring him before the ethics committee on phony charges just as retaliation on his stand against abortion being funded by taxpayer dollars! How vicious and cutthroat by these Democrats!
Clearly, if the Democrats are willing to and have been turning on their own to fulfill the wishes of their "Great Leader," Obama, they have clearly decided that to be fanatically ideological and partisan is worth it to have Obamacare passed, even if that means certain doom in the house-cleaning midterms this fall. The Democrats as a party are no longer representative of any normal demographics in America: They only cater to the hardcore left made up of Moveon.org and the Daily Kos, who run the party now. Those are the liberal constituents Obama and Pelosi cater to; that explains the suicidal, fanatical and obstinate drive to health care "reform" although a clear majority of Americans is opposed to it, and prediction after prediction has it that the Democrats will lose congressional control to the GOP as punishment for their ideology.

Yeah saw that on fox, they are really desperate, we must remember this in November.
The old, phony "inevitability strategy."
Marc - I will not be surprised if the bill passes. The President stated awhile back he would not sign a bad bill. looks like he will sign any health care bill now. I just finished an article reviewing his Stongville, Ohio speech.
Wouldn't it be lovely if the Congress members who are the targets of the bribes and tricks would suddenly experience a flash of honor and expose exactly what is going on behind the scenes! Fox News would give them air time, I'm sure. Would we see them as heroes? I do not understand how men of "conscience" can fall prey to such deceitful practices, and say nothing, do nothing. And then get re-elected...
Great Article...we can just pray that a greater source intervenes so it doesn't get passed. God knows the ramifications if it does. It is incredible that they are still trying to pass this thing when the people don't want it. You know in the old days they tared and feathered politicians like the ones in office now. Perhaps we ought to go back to that.
The White House will bully and bribe until they get what they want, but not what the majority of the people want.
David,
Oh, not at all--go ahead and "shamelessly" plug away! In fact, I appreciate you citing your own article because it effectively knocks down that oft-repeated falsehood that John Mario used (that many libs use), which is that the GOP has no plan of their own.
Great article - I believe we are all sick of Pelosi and her policies. We really need to get rid of her. Many people are satisified with their current health care. The few cannot continue to support the many that will not make an effort to help themselves.
"The Republicans have no proposals on the table that would make health insurance affordable for those who do not have and cannot afford health care."... Ok, I'm getting really tired of hearing this. Yes, the Republicans HAVE been putting proposals on the table, they just aren't given any attention. The Democrats have rejected almost every one of them. I've discussed this at length in one of my own colums, "Obama vs Republicans on Healthcare". (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2601087/obama_vs_republicans_on_healthcare.html?cat=5). Sorry for the shameless plug, Marc, but I had to say it.
