Axl Rose Ran Out of Patience in Dublin

It seems as though Gun 'N Roses is having a hard time making it to the stage on time while touring in Europe. The band was scheduled to perform at Dublin's 02 Arena on Wednesday night, and had thousands of upset fans by the time Axl Rose finally hit the stage an hour after the scheduled performance. The irritated crowd launched water bottles onto the stage while the band performed. Rose warned the crowd to stop and they responded with more bottles being tossed onto the stage. He walked off, but not before telling the crowd to have a good evening. Irish band promoters forced Rose to continue the show, which he did, to a near-empty venue.

Axl Rose is not the only musician who has dealt with an angry crowd. The young female performer,Tila Tequila was verbally and physically attacked while she attempted to rap during her performance at ICP's Gathering of the Juggalos last month. Members of Insane Clown Posse stated they warned Tequila about her unpopularity with their fans, but she insisted on performing. Once on stage, she was subjected to objects being thrown at her, and at one point the crowd chanted for her to stop rapping. She refused to leave the stage and shouted profanities back to the crowd and even exposed herself, which escalated the situation. Part of the attack was caught on tape -- you can view it here. It seems as though Tequila's persistence on performing triggered the angry crowd.

Kanye West is no stranger to angry fans either; he had quite a few at the Bonnaroo Festival in 2008. West pushed his performance back from Saturday until Sunday. The crowd was very unhappy about his delay, and greeted him with shouts of "Kanye Sucks" and with glow sticks being thrown onto the stage. Also in 2008, Bjork offended fans during her Shanghai performance by shouting "Tibet! Tibet!" A Chinese fan said Bjork's actions were "disrespectful" and "very selfish."

I don't believe Axl Rose or the other members of Guns 'N Roses will be very affected by the outrage in Dublin. Rose is the only original member of the current Guns 'N Roses lineup, and while their new album is selling, their popularity is nothing compared to what the original Gun 'N Roses band experienced years ago. Gun 'N Roses kept Irish fans waiting for two hours over a decade ago, so tardiness is something Rose has issues with.
