Azul Restaurant:: A Great Place to Eat and Meet

Great Food, and You Can Get Food After Midnight

Jo Adamson
My husband and I visited Azul when we shopping at the outdoor mall of Mill Creek.

We hadn't eaten lunch, and when I saw the Azul sign, I suggested that we give it a try since I liked Tex-Mex.

When we walked in the door, the Tex-Mex influence gave way to the Caribbean influences. At least, the interior look Caribbean with its masks and candles behind the bar.

It didn't look Mexican in the cliché' sense of having garish pictures of Senorita's holding steaming plates of Mexican fare, or seeing bunches of hot peppers hanging from the rafters.

I ordered a margarita and when the drink came, it was not a disappointment. I can truthfully say it was one of the best margaritas that I've ever had.

Enough already, let's get to the food!

Let me just say that of their food I can never get enough.

We started with ordering The Roasted Corn and Avocado Dip. When it arrived at our table it looked as good as it tasted. And that's saying something. The seasoning was perfect, the avocado fresh, and the corn complimented the dish in just the right way. (And I don't even like corn!)

When the waitress asked us what we wanted for our main course, I felt like telling her that I already had it when I ordered the Roasted Corn and Avocado Dip.

But with starters that good, I knew the main course would not disappoint.

It didn't.

When my Pork Enchilada Verde arrived (I split it with my spouse. There's more than enough for two) and with its roasted tomatillo and jalapeno sauce toping the enchilada, I couldn't wait to take my first bite.

The pork was tender, and the seasoning did not over power the palate (fancy word for it was just right!) and everything was fresh as you'd expect in a good restaurant.

My son ordered the Azul Burger, and when I asked him how he liked it, he said it was great. (And that was a mouthful!)

I ordered another margarita-----best margarita I ever had. Oh, I said that didn't I?

When we got our bill, the price fit right into the category of "you get what you pay for".

We paid for a sumptuous dinner. Since that first time, we've gone back again and again.

We have never had a bad meal there.

Is the food quality consistent?

After over a dozen visits to Azul, what more is there to say about the Mexican menu items, with a few Caribbean specialties thrown in?

I echo what Tony the Tiger says about Frosted Flakes, "They're Gr-r-reat!"
