When making a baby back rib dinner at home, you don't have to go all out. I make mine
easy because I don't always have time to go all out. The cost of making my own rib dinner is far cheaper than a restaurant dinner.
Dinner Portion of the Meal
Slab of Farmland Baby Back Ribs
One slab of baby back ribs will feed my family of three. These ribs were cooked in the oven for 2 hours at 300 degrees Fahrenheit in a baking dish covered with foil. After the ribs were done baking, I pour and smeared barbeque sauce on them. Then placed them under the broiler for 6 minutes on each side to get the sauce stuck to them like found in the restaurants.
Deviled Eggs
My deviled eggs are simple. Boil the eggs and cool with cold tap water. Cut eggs in half and remove the yolks. Smash the yolks with a fork, add 1 teaspoon of mustard, 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise, salt and pepper, and mix thoroughly. Fill the egg whites with the yolk mixture. You can top with paprika if you want.
Mashed Potatoes
Boil the potatoes until done. Mash with butter, salt and pepper, and add milk until I have the consistency I like. Sometimes I will add sour cream and cheese to the potatoes.
Shurfine Green Beans
I have boiled fresh green beans. There are times when I use canned green beans. I have used the microwavable frozen green beans too. When I cook them on the stove top, I sometimes add onions and bacon bits.
Dessert Portion of the Menu
Cherry or Apple Pie
This time around I made one of each since we were having this for Thanksgiving dinner since the turkey wouldn't be thawed in time. I normally use the rolled, refrigerated pie dough and two cans of the filling. On occasion, I will make an apple pie from scratch. If you prefer your apple pie from scratch, this apple pie recipe is the one I use.
Drinks
The drinks in my house are the simplest of the whole meal. We either have tea, water, milk, or soda.
