Baby Books Get Modernized

Cathy Bennett, founder of How Fast They Grow, announced the launch of a revolutionary website that is expected to modernize traditional scrapbooking for baby books.

The new site, www.howfasttheygrow.com is a new approach to scrapbooking. It offers an all digital approach to creating your baby book. You simply upload your photos, drag and drop them where desired, and personalize the text.

How Fast They Grow partnered with Ecom Enterprises to create digi-scrapbook, a patent-pending tool that allows users to edit things such as photos and text in real time. Digi-scrapbook™ also allows users to create and personalize their pages without downloading any software.

After personalizing one of 109 page designs (there are four central themes that you can mix and match from) you can then share your pages online via a personalized web link or order a 12" by 12" cardstock page that is acid free. The pages fit standard scrapbooks, which are also sold on the website.

Although the themes available coincide with the nature of a baby book, there is also a blank template available for you to customize if you wish to have your own unique template. You can also leave these pages blank for large photos or for further customization by hand.

Aside from digital photos, you can also scan images (such as birth certificates and sonogram pictures) and upload them as well. Another option if you do not have access to a scanner would be to have your images scanned onto a disc at a local retail store.

Considering the cost of scrapbooking supplies and the labor of traditional scrapbooking, the individual price of $7.50 per page should seem more than reasonable to most consumers. The scrapbook albums sold on the site are by Celine Countryman and are a little more expensive at $55.00 apiece, but include custom embossing.

After reviewing the website the only potential downfalls were the kinds of editing tools offered. Options such as red eye reduction are not available, but this shouldn't be a problem for too many consumers as there is a plethora of free photo editing software programs available.
