Baby Einstein Recall a Big Recall Associated with Customer Satisfaction

Baby Einstein Recall Isn't Concerned with Safety - Just Customer Satisfaction

Meg G.
The Baby Einstein recall is a relief to some parents. The Baby Einstein recall is because Baby Einstein doesn't really teach your kids anything - even though previous claims state otherwise. Who would have thought that the Baby Einstein recall would be such a high profile event?

The Baby Einstein recall allows parents to receive a refund for items purchased between June 5, 2004 and September 4, 2009. If you purchased a Baby Einstein DVD during this time frame, you are entitled to a 25% off coupon for one Little Einstein product at the Disney Store. You can also opt to receive a $15.99 refund or a Baby Einstein music CD.

If you are going to participate in the Baby Einstein recall, you had better act fast! The Baby Einstein recall offer ends on March 4, 2010. Don't wait to the last minute, as you can only imagine how many other parents are also taking advantage of the recall.

Unlike most recalls, the Baby Einstein recall does not have anything to do with safety. The Baby Einstein products are still safe to use. The Baby Einstein recall is because certain claims were made regarding the product's educational benefits. Since the company overstated the benefits, they must give back money to consumers to avoid a class-action lawsuit.

If you went crazy purchasing Baby Einstein products trying to turn your kid into the next Albert Einstein, you may be a little disappointed with the terms and conditions of the Baby Einstein recall. The Baby Einstein recall is only for up to 4 refunds. You also have to hand over your Baby Einstein product in order to get the refund.

Was Disney smart for issuing the Baby Einstein recall? I think so. I think this move gives consumers confidence that Disney will always do what is right. Allowing for up to $60 back will provide some families with much-needed funds to purchase their children gifts for the holiday season. Perhaps Disney hopes that a large majority of the Baby Einstein recall money will be spent on other Baby Einstein or Disney products.

It's good to see at least one company standing behind their product. With all the massive recalls that have happened lately, it's also nice to see a recall that isn't concerned with a safety hazard. The Baby Einstein products are still very safe; it's just that Disney wants to make sure that their customers remain 100% satisfied with their purchases.

We find the videos a useful tool and Chloe LOVES them! We won't be returning any.

This is absurd and only an activist would start all this negative propaganda against Baby Einstein. It's up to the parents how long they let their kids watch TV. We ONLY let out daughter watch these videos (at times we must put her down for 20 minutes) and not sit in front of the TV endlessly,or have programming airing constantly in the background like some households in America.

I Think this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!! as a mother of four children and Grandmother of three and a employee of Babies R Us for the last 4 years. of course their children arent goin to become brainiacs from watching the DVD's! but comeon people like REALLY!!!!my 2 yr old grand daughter watches BARNEY every day and she can count to 20 and recite the entire alphabet as well. what has our world come to that we need to RECALL a DVD

i have used baby einstein four probably around 3 1/2 yrs now. i have twin four year olds who used it first, then a two year old, now a baby. i bought baby einstein b/c i felt that in order to be a good mom and wife, there would be times i would have to put the babies down and do a little housework. i hated to put them down b/c i so loved holding and loving and introducing their tiny little minds to colors and textures, to sounds and to FuN. baby einstein videos helped me to feel better about the "spare time", the times when i could not be hands on. i agree with the comment "well there is America for you"... it's a shame when one can be sued for the Literal-ness of their wording. Instead, those of us who know agree-- introducing your child to concepts as early as possible gives your child a better chance of being a successful learner. p.s. my daughter has just had her fourth birthday and is reading three letter words by herself at the rate of almost 20 wpm.... i think she's a little Ei

I totally agree with the last poster what a load of bologna. I am not returning any of the movies I have either. My son learned lots of stuff from all the DVDs we have of baby Einstein, the alphabet, colors, animals, not to mention the music. He loved them from the early age of 3 months. He is almost 4 and still asks to watch them sometimes.

I heard about the refund from my mom and until now when i looked it on line to what exactly was the reason for the recall, now that i have i am not returning any of my movies. I love them. As far as people think they aren't teaching your kids anything, thats bull. No matter what you have learning or showing products for your children you cant just sit them in front of it and know what it is. Thats like giving your child a book and say ok read it. Are you going to ask for a refund because he didnt read it? You as a parent has to sit with your child and make learing fun and showing them all the different objects, colors and shapes. So dont be lazy parents, and instead of blaming Disney, you should look in the mirror.

Well there is America for you. How lame is it that we have lawyers out there that would actually benefit from going after a product like Baby Einstein? It gives all the good lawyers a bad name. If any of us are dumb enough to actually think that Baby Einstein is going to make our baby a genius than we are idiots and should be sued for having a child. The product is just fine for what it is. It provides a simple entertainment for simple little minds, all the while providing small tidbits of learning, like counting, colors, seasons, etc. None of it is guaranteed, because every single child in every single home across the world is totally different. The product is great. My kids love it. I have a couple of smart kids, and a couple of average kids, they all watched them the same amount of time. None of it I would accredit towards Baby Einstein except that it occupied my children occasionally while I did the dishes, cleaned the house, or needed some "me" time. And occasionally it

My little one just love it, also learn a lot from Einstein DVD's, as Miriam said in a previous commentary You are the first teacher for your kid, of course you choose what kind of programming you want for the kid, and baby Einstein is very cool and clean. what's wrong with shapes, colors animals and basics?. did somebody tried it out before? yes, books, toys ect. Now if you r using any program as the main course to educate your kid, then you are totally wrong.

As the founder of a product safety site, http://WeMakeItSafer.com, I do find it interesting that I have heard more about this "recall" than I did about Baby Einstein's four real, safety recalls."

  • Miriam 10/28/2009

I agree with all the positive comments. My 20-month-old has learned so much since she's been on this program. Her father and I sit with her and encourage her to learn all the concepts. As many here have said it is a TOOL. So many parents today are truly lazy! Mothers, fathers: WAKE UP! YOU ARE YOUR CHILD'S FIRST TEACHER!! Do not blame a product for your own lack of understanding or effort to sit with your child and help him/her learn!

  • Damika 10/28/2009

This recall is unnecessary. My son is 5 and loved the Baby Einstein dvd's as a child and he did learn some things. I do not attribute that only to the videos but also to myself and his family working with him, teaching him things, talking to him, being involved and reinforcing what is on the videos and in his environment. You have to work with child and not just expect the videos to make your child an "Einstein" It is a name of a company that sells educational toys. Learning comes from who and what you expose your child to as a parent.
