Baby Gaga on YouTube: Dangerous or Cute?

The Dangers of Child Exploitation

Shana Dines
Baby Gaga a three-year-old on youtube was an overnight sensation with over 1,000,000 hits. Her mother Heidi Ladrow along with the family friend, director Jack Wilson was interviewed on the news this morning.

It was all in fun, said her mother of her precocious, very animated three-year-old daughter. She loved doing it. This makes it okay? Children love doing a lot of things. Does that make it healthy for them? Baby Gaga is imitating Lady Gaga in the telephone video. She is scantily clad while dancing and wearing handcuffs. Either her mother or the director are totally naïve or are exploiting this precious little child.

In the background of the video are adult female dancers also wearing revealing scanty clothes. Baby Gaga sits in the foreground as the women dance in the background like Lady Gaga.

The video is very disturbing and will attract every pervert, pedophile in the world to watch the video. According to her mother it is too late to remove this video as countless people have copied it by now. I shudder to think of what kind of people have a copy of this now.

People on the street were asked what they thought of the video. Most were very disturbed by it. Some didn't see any harm in it. It is an example of how desensitized we as a society have become to the exploitation of our children.

Psychotherapist Heidi Banks said that this is very damaging to the little Baby Gaga even though she appears to not be upset by it. Just like the many parodies of Britney Spears in her "Oops I Did it Again," this can have long range negative effects on little Baby Gaga and others that will follow in her footsteps. There is also a little boy in the video that may have some damaging effects as a result of this video.

I hope that other parents will realize the damage that this will do to their children by exploiting them and putting them on the internet. If a person has any doubt about how many pedophiles are out there all they have to do is go to "watchdog," to see how many registered sex offenders are in this country. This is only the tip of the iceberg as these are just the registered sex offenders, this does not include all of the ones that we are not even aware of.

Baby Gaga's mother may be totally innocent, but hopefully she will wake up and see how dangerous that this video can be to her child. Little Jon Benet is a prime example of what exploiting one's child and dressing them up like a little feme fatale can have on her.

Please do not do this to your child. Please think of the long term consequences to your child. Children are being kidnapped and sold into sex slave trade everyday in this country and all over the world. Please use caution and do not allow your child to be exploited.

This and things like baby pageants can be so damaging if taken to far, you are spot on about it being exploitation. Just like the pageant moms don't need that sparkly one piece and stripper pole, this mother didn't need to put her daughter's enthusiasm on youtube.

Honestly I despise Lady GaGa..Maybe cause I am old fashion and like real music... I dunno, but this video is ridiculous.. Great write up on this one Shana !

long-term effects or not, I wouldn't put a video, no matter how innocent of my child on YouTube.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, Shana. When we do something like this to our children, the ramifications of our actions could have long-term negative effects on our children. As I was reading this (before you mentioned her), I was reminded of Jon Benet Ramsey and how she was exploited as a a mini-beauty queen. It's sad what parents do, thus causing them harm one way or the other. Excellent article.

Thank you Crystal, you know how much I value your opinions and those like you that know the difference between reporting bad behavior and those who try to excuse it. You are a very wise woman.

joymcintire: Shana doesn't have to 'know the family' to realize this type of child exploitation is wrong. They might be very nice people and not bad in the least, but that doesn't change anything. What Shana is bringing attention to is the problem. Something like this might be cute to someone that isn't a pervert, but what purpose does it serve other than drawing lots of attention? The media isn't to blame. That's a cop out and a poor attempt to place blame where it doesn't belong. The perverts that use children for their sick purposes are to blame. What can we do about that? We can stop posting these types of videos that use children in settings where they don't belong. Also, we still have freedom of speech, and we don't have to agree with what others are doing - especially when it involves innocent children that can't make their own decisions. Shana has a life, and she's a very intelligent person that knows right from wrong.

I agree that other than dressing up and playing with makeup, there is no reason for a little girl to be dressed provocatively and imitating someone doing "sexy moves" etc. It is dangerous, but it's also wrong, period!
