Baby Names for Girly Girls Made Popular by Disney

Elle
Having a girly-girl is every traditional mothers dream. You can play dress up and have tea parties with a girly-girl. Halloween brings images of princesses and fairies with little pink tutu's and a Tierra. If you plan to have a girly-girl, consider these familiar baby girl names made popular by Disney:

Ariel - Popularized by The Little Mermaid, this name is French or Hebrew and means "heavenly singer".

Snow - The name, as in Snow White, does not mean pure as most would think. The meaning behind the name Snow is "quiet" or "soft spoken."

Pocahontas - Obviously Native American, Pocahontas was the movie that brought a bright spirited nature girl to life. The name means "joyful"

Bell - This name has various spellings and versions including Belle, Bela, Bele, or Bella and is French for "beautiful" which is why it was chosen for the story Beauty and the Beast.

Anastasia - Made Popular by the same movie title, Anastasia has a Greek or Russian orientation and means "reborn" or "royal." Other spellings of the name include Anastasiya or Anastasya.

Cinderella - While most people would not name their daughter Cinderella unless they despised children, Cindy is the common version of this less desired formal name. Cinda, Cindie and Cindi are also varied versions of the core name. The origin is French and means "imaginative" or "hopeful."

Alice - While less than a princess, this fun Disney character is adventurous but still girly. Alice is Greek for Honest and can be spelled Alece, Alicia, Alise, Alliss, Ally, Allys, Alyse, Alysse, Lisie, Lisy, or Lysse as alternate names.

Aurora - Aurora is the forgotten princess. No one seems to remember her name because everyone calls her "Sleeping Beuty." The name is Latin for "morning glow" which is quite fitting for a girl who is awakened by the kiss of her charming prince.

Tiana - Disney's first Black Princess in Princess and the Frog is Princess Tiana. Tiana is Greek, not African American for "highest beauty." Alternates include Tana, Teeana, Tiane, and Tiona.

Jasmine - Princess Jasmine was the young princess in Aladdin. The Persian or Spanish name means "fragrant" or "sweet" and can be spelled more than 44 different ways. Some of the most popular include Jas'mine, Jasamine, Jasimen, Jasimin, Jasimine, Jazmeen, Jazmond, or Jazzmun.

Giselle - This name comes from the 2007 movie Enchanted starring Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, and James Marsden. A classic Disney fairytale collides with modern-day New York City in this story and Giselle is the "naïve" princess in the story. Thus Giselle is German for "naïve" or French meaning "devoted friend."
