For an extra personal touch, consider possibly making your own (or having someone own make you a) centerpiece. There are a variety of materials and methods that can be used to go about this, and which one you choose really has to do with your own personal preference.

Flower centerpiece: If you just want a simple centerpiece, get a vase and design a nice flower arrangement. These can be any sort of flower, ranging from some to match a color scheme if you have one or the mother-to-be's favorites. Though fresh flowers can get costly at times, it's still rather easy to stick to a budget with them and, if you want to be even more budget friendly, fake flowers still are just as lovely as real ones, they just last longer and cost less.

Diaper Cake: What says baby shower better than having diaper cake centerpieces? Most women know at least one person who knows how to make these and they generally turn out to be really cute. This also allows you to personalize the center pieces, too, because no two diaper cakes need to look alike and you can design them for a boy or a girl, depending on the gender of the baby, or even gender neutral if you're unsure.

Crocheted/Sewn centerpieces: There are numerous cute children's crochet or sewing patterns, including teddy bears and other cute animals reminiscent of childhood. If anyone in your family, or yourself, know how to do either of these, it might be worth considering using this to make centerpieces. Generally fabric/yarn does not cost too much and you can choose something that reflects the mother-to-be, or even colors for the baby!

Tips to keep in mind when shopping for centerpieces:

- If you buy centerpieces/craft items at a specialty store, they're generally going to be considerably more expensive than if you were to buy the same things at a large general store such as Walmart or Kmart.

- Sometimes buying all the products needed to make handmade centerpieces can end up being more costly than just buying centerpieces, so remember to look into all options and weigh the costs.

- If you're planning on making centerpieces by hand, make sure you've got the time required to actually make the centerpieces. If time is an issue, you might want to consider simply buying them.

- There's usually a certain time of year when baby items go on sale. Try to keep your eyes out so that you can catch the centerpieces on sale.
