Here are a few easy baby shower games that will hopefully cut away some of the stress involved with hosting a baby shower.
My water broke! This is a super easy, cheap game that is good for large, or small groups. It's appropriate for all ages as well. Which is something to consider as many games might be offensive to older guests, or those who may bring their children.
In the bakery, or craft aisle of the store, you can find baby themed cup cake toppers. Miniature babies work best for this, but mini clothes pinks, rattles, etc also work well. Freeze the miniature in an ice cube tray previous to the party. One per ice cube. At the party, you give each guest a cup, and a baby ice cube with some water. They will write down their name, and time they think their baby will be 'born.' Meaning it is melted completely out of the ice. Whoever is closest wins. Good 'ice breaker' game, that can go on through out the night, keeping the excitement up.
What's in the bag? In this game, you will need brown paper bags, and small unusual baby gifts for the Mommy to be. This is a good way to give things others may not have thought of. Hide the unusual gifts (loose outlet covers, bottle brush, finger tooth brush etc) in the bags, which are numbered to an answer key, pass them around to guests. Everyone has ten seconds to feel, and try to guess what's in the bag, they don't say it out loud, just write down the number, and their guess. Whoever has the most correct guesses wins!
What's in a name? If the Mommy to be doesn't have names yet, have guests to try to make a name out of the Mother's, or Father's full name. If Father's name is unavailable, pick a favorite relative, or Movie star. Whoever makes the most real names out of the parents name wins.
Blind Baby Race! This game is a real blast! Blind fold two or three guests at a time, and set naked baby dolls onto a table (if you don't happen to have any baby dolls, visit a thrift store, and re-donate them later, or give to Mommy to be if having a girl). They then must race to diaper their baby first! Keep eliminating people until you have a winner! Or, give one gift per set of races.
For cheap baby shower prize ideas, head to the kitchen. Make cookies to fit your theme, and decorate them a little fancy (with chocolate drizzles etc). Put one in a zippie bag, attach to the zippie bag a piece of card stock that reads, "Thanks for joining in the fun!" and any information about baby's due date etc that's available. They then have a goodie for later, and a sweet reminder. It's inexpensive, and goes over well.
