Baby Swim Lessons in the St. Louis Area

Melina Ann Collison
With summer being upon us our children are going to want to swim. No matter what age, if they are in the backyard with the hose, or at the local pool your children want to get wet during the hot summer months. Young babies are not excluded in wanting to play in the water. There are so many different ways to get your child comfortable with being in the water. One thing you should do is sign your baby or toddler up for swim lessons.

The best place to do this at in the St. Louis area is by signing up for classes at Little Fishes Swim School. Here you and your child will receive personalized water instruction. Little Fishes Swim School provides a comfortable environment for your child where year round classes are held in a heated pool. Small classes are designed specifically for teaching swimming to young children.

Little Fishes Swim School uses a salt-water sanitation system instead of the chlorination chemicals used in traditional pools. This is because the salt-water sanitation system is healthier for young lungs, better for the environment, less harsh on delicate baby skin, and still keeps the pool clean without the use of chemicals.

Parents are required to stay for the Water Babies class and be in the water with their child. If you child is older than that or has graduated to the next stage of classes parents are not required to be in the water. There is a waiting area where coffee, reading material, and WiFi Internet is provided.

Classes offered at the Little Fishes Swim School include 5 students and two highly trained instructors. Each time you attend a class your child's swim time will include songs, games, and toys to promote participation and make the class fun. Little Fishes Swim School wants your child to be a confident swimmer.

There are two levels of classes for the Water Babies program. First is the infant level where babies ranging from 6 months in age to 12 months learn to swim together. What happens if you child cries? The trained instructors will know what to do. The next level is the toddler level ranging from 1 - 3 yrs. Classes offered for children older than 3 have three levels; acclimation level, beginner level, and intermediate level.

Classes are approximately 30 minutes long and you can still get into summer swim lessons now. Summer 2009 classes start June 15 and run through August 22. Price is $220 for the entire program. You provide your own swimsuit, towel, and other necessities.
