Baby and Toddler Books About Monkeys
Monkey and Me by Emily Gravett- This book is great for both babies and toddlers. It's a short and sweet book in which a little girl and her monkey (a doll) go see different animals. It features big, appealing illustrations and a simple storyline.
That's not my Monkey by Fiona Watt- Part of a series of That's Not My____ books, this is another book that will be a favorite to babies and toddlers alike. It is a touch and feel book with different textures on each page. It is an ideal board book for a baby especially because of its sturdiness and the fact that young babies love exploring textures.
Curious George by H.A. and Margaret Rey- What list of monkey books would be complete without Curious George, long-time favorite monkey for generations of kids! These books are better suited to toddlers as they can be a bit long for a baby's attention span. The Curious George series has lots of nice books to choose from, including ones in which Curious George learns the alphabet, rides a bike, and takes a job.
Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed by Eileen Christelow- This is an adaptation of the popular kids' rhyme. The illustrations are both cute and funny...and the book appeals to toddlers who are little monkeys themselves! If your child likes this book, there are a few other books about the five little monkeys, including: Five Little Monkeys with Nothing to Do, Five Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree, and Five Little Monkeys Play Hide and Seek, among others.
Good Night, Monkey Boy by Jarrett J. Krosoczka- This is a great before bed book for a little toddler who doesn't want to go to sleep! In the book, Monkey Boy does everything to get out of bed time, but his mom is always there telling him it's time for bed!
