Baby Zedonk (PHOTOS): WTF is a Zedonk?! Find Out Here..

What in the world is a zedonk? That's what America wants to know today, and this article should clear things up! Currently a top Google search trend, 'zedonk' is actually a term for a hybrid animal. Now that the word is put in proper context, one may be able to guess which animals have been cross-bred.

For those who can't figure it out, however, allow us to clarify, and explain the nation's sudden interest in the creature!

Quite simply, a zedonk is what results when a zebra and donkey have a really good time together. Apparently, a male zebra and a female donkey had a really good time at a Georgia wildlife preserve recently, and last week they became the proud parents of a beautiful, bouncing baby zedonk! The adorable female baby zedonk foal, to possibly be named "Pippi" after popular children's character, Pippi Longstocking (ABC.com), was reportedly born last Wednesday at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in Dahlonega, GA.

The Huffington Post reported today that the brand-new zedonk foal, now roughly a week old and looking adorable (see new baby zedonk photos here), has a zebra daddy and a donkey mama. The HP report also explains, and the photos show, that the fuzzy little gal has a donkey's coloring on her body, but the striped legs of a zebra. The baby zedonk born at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in Dahlonega, GA, last week also has some visible zebra stripes on her face.

According to answers.com, a zedonk is a rather unusual cross-breeding, however both animals are closely related. Both zebras and donkeys are members of the horse family, making successful mating completely possible without any human manipulation.
