BABYBJORN Toilet Trainer Review

Mary Lamphere
Parents are always looking for a nice and easy alternative to the potty training system that they use for their children. The BABYBJORN toilet trainer is a seemingly great alternative for potty training seats but this does not necessarily mean that it is the best trainer for your child. Although this potty trainer is a great choice for some children, it does not work for boys at all! I would not recommend the BABYBJORN toilet trainer for use with a little boy for many different reasons!

Reason #1 Not to Use BABYBJORN Toilet Trainer for Boys

First off, the BABYBJORN toilet trainer is a solid style piece that does not include a cup for blocking urine from spraying during use. While this may sound pretty graphic, when a child sits on the BABYBJORN potty seat there is the ability for urine to spray up and out if the child is a boy. For girls this is less likely because they tend to pee down into the toilet but for boys the spray tends to stream straight out of the seat making this a poor choice!

Reason #2 Not to Use BABYBJORN Toilet Trainer for Boys

Another reason not to use the BABYBJORN is because boys tend to have their little thing touch the front of the BABYBJORN toilet training seat. This is not only uncomfortable for little boys but it also makes for an added mess for mom or dad to clean up! I was all for the BABYBJORN when a parent of a male child brought it to my home daycare until that child was constantly dealt with the hassle of having to push himself down toward the bottom of the cup of the potty seat in order to prevent a mess. A two year old should not have to worry about weather or not he is going into the potty seat!

Reason #3 Not to Use BABYBJORN Toiler Trainer for Boys

Finally, another reason that I didn't like the BABYBJORN seat was that it tended to make a mess that was unnecessary. For instance, a boy goes potty in the toilet and then he tries to be a big boy and dump it out...you notice that underneath the BABYBJORN seat there is a build up of urine that needs to be cleaned off! This is bacteria that should not be an issue with the structure of the BABYBJORN seat but it continues to be a problem. I do not think that a seat that parents pay so much for should come with the worry of a difficult clean up attached!
