Retirement Party Idea #1 - Restaurant Party
One of the easiest ways to host a retirement party is to book a room at the honoree's favorite restaurant. The restaurant can provide the food and drinks, not to mention the cleaning and set up services, while all you will need to worry about is the activities, gifts and decorations. For decorations you will want to go with a theme that matches the overall theme of the restaurant. Party activities can include a roast of the retiree, a slide show and other ways to review the life of the honoree.
Retirement Party Idea #2 - Weekend Cruise
If the babyboomer retiring loves the water then plan a weekend cruise to celebrate their retirement. You can work with a travel agent to set up a group cruise package to save money. You can find weekend cruise deals for a three day trip for under $300 per person. You can invite family, friends and co-workers, or you can keep the cruise party small and intimate.
Retirement Party Idea #3 - Lakeside Party
For the avid fisherman, plan a retirement party at a lake. You can set up the retirement party to coincide with a fishing derby or you can set up the party so that your retirement party can spend time fishing on the lake. You can rent a pontoon boat, you can reserve a picnic site and you can make arrangements with local rental recreation vehicle companies for things like skies, wetsuits, jet skis and other equipment.
Retirement Party Idea #4 - Home Party
Some of the best retirement parties are thrown at home. If you have the space and the time to set everything up, then plan to host your retirement party at home. You will need to come up with a theme, you will need to pick up decorations and you will need to find fun things to do at the party. The theme of your home party should focus on something that the retiree is interested in, such as barbeques, sports or movies. You can tie their retirement gifts into the theme of the party. For example, you can throw a fishing themed retirement party. Each guest can bring a gift that relates to fishing, such as fishing rods, reels, fish finders, fishing clothes and fishing novelties. If you have the money available you can surprise the retiree with a big gift like a fishing trip or a fishing oat after al the smaller gifts have been opened.
