Babysitter checklist 101

As a parent, you can't be too careful who watches your children. When choosing the right babysitter, there is a checklist you should follow.

You will find some great tips to consider when you are deciding on a person to watch your children. This is a very important decision and should not be taken lightly.

References. This is a must-have on the checklist. As a parent, you must do a thorough background check on those you are willing to leave in the care of your children.

First aid knowledge. First aid knowledge isn't just applying bandages and kissing away the hurt. A certification would be a great idea to have as a job requirement. The certification should include CPR.

Maturity and age. Maturity and age is a very important key factor in picking a babysitter. You wouldn't want an immature teenager watching your precious children.

Bonds with family. The family and the babysitter needs to bond with one another. Bonding is something that is important to have.

Follows the rules. As the parent, you need to set rules and boundaries for a sitter. The sitter needs to follow these rules that you have set down.

Kid friendly. The person needs to be friendly with you as the parent and the child. Most importantly, they have to be kid friendly. A person who doesn't get along with children isn't someone you would want to be watching your children.

Reliable. The sitter needs to be reliable. This means that the person must be on time, and if they are going to be late, they need to phone ahead of time. A reliable person will not let you down when you need them.

Parenting isn't easy by any means. It is never easy to leave our children with a complete stranger. From one parent to the next, before deciding on a sitter, it is always best to do a trial run. A trial run will help you and your children ease into the babysitting routine.

If that still doesn't help you with the babysitter dilemma, you can set up nanny cams in your home. The nanny cam will help you keep a watchful eye on your children while they are in the care of a babysitter. If anything goes wrong, you will have proof.

More than one interview with the potential person should be conducted. This will help weed out any potential problems, and it will work out all the details of the job and for you to be able to "feel" out the person. You cannot be too careful on who you finally decide to hire. The key to remember is that you are the parent and you have the right to thoroughly check them out, no matter what.
