Babywearing Goes Hollywood

Babywearing is now de rigueur when it comes to Hollywood celebs. The trendiest stars in Hollywood have ditched their strollers and have taken their babies up in arms -- literally! Flush with an abundance of money and a fierce love of fashion, some of these celebrities have as many different baby carriers as they do clothes in their wardrobe. If truth be told, some even buy baby carriers to match the clothes in their wardrobe.

Here are some of the Hollywood parents that are addicted to babywearing.

GWEN STEFANI

If there is anyone who considers baby slings to be the latest great fashion accessory, Gwen Stefani is definitely that person. Gwen loves to match her baby Kingston's slings with her clothes. And probably her nail polish, too. She can be seen in several pictures wearing the Oopa Baby Sling in off-white pique with black and white floral print. Fans of Gwen Stefani (and babywearing) can buy this sling too from Oopa's website and you will only be out $130 if you do. That is a far cry cheaper than the cost of a stroller and you and your baby will both look gorgeous together. Oopa's Baby Slings were created in 2004 by Amy Glovsky Abreu. All are handmade and come in a wide variety of fabrics.

Assuming that there are mad people out there who have no limit to what they will splash out on and yearn to be ultra trendy, Gwen is also a fan of Gucci slings. Particularly, Gucci slings with brown leather trim. These will run you a mere $760!

GAVIN ROSSDALE

Former lead singer of the alternative rock band Bush and devoted husband and father to Gwen Stefani and baby Kingston respectively, Gavin Rossdale likes to roam around town wearing a basic black sling. I wonder which one of the many slings that Kingston rides in is his favorite? Perhaps later in a tell-all book all will be revealed.

ANGELINA JOLIE

When Angelina Jolie is busy globetrotting to faraway lands, she likes to carry her children around in an Oopa Baby Sling. Angelina's sling of choice is the white pique sling with eyelet lace and at $189 is a little more expensive than Gwen Stefani's Oopa -- but looks more suited to hot climates. Angelina has also been seen wearing her children in a Hotsling as well as what could be a homemade camouflage sling.

BROOKE SHIELDS

Brooke Shields has been spotted using the same Oopa Baby Sling as Gwen Stefani. See above.

Brooke is also a fan of the Moby Wrap and has said, "The Moby Wrap is so perfect and so comfortable. Rowan loves it and mom's back is not as twisted."

GWYNETH PALTROW

It probably won't surprise anyone one iota to read that Gwyneth Paltrow also fancies Oopa Baby Slings. Gwyneth has a limited edition sling in Blush Silk which, upon closer inspection, doesn't appear to be available anymore on Oopa's website. I wonder if Coldplay hubby Chris Martin wears this too or prefers going the Gavin Rossdale route? I have my suspicions.

KATIE HOLMES

Approved by all of the proper Scientology authorities, Katie Holmes sports an Oopa Baby Sling of chambray with striped grosgrain ribbon*. Either Katie has very inexpensive taste or it is against her religion to spend frivolously as her sling clocks in at a mere $79, a fraction of what the others above cost. When Katie brought the sling home from the store, Tom Cruise vetted it and then voiced his approval by leaping onto the nearest piece of furniture (in this case a sofa) and jumping up and down with his fists raised high in the air.

Katie Holmes also has a Heavenly Bundle sling in Classic Houndstooth print. It is not known whether Tom Cruise took to the sofa with this one or not.

*Yes, I did make up that first sentence and no Scientology officials were involved in the planning or purchase of Katie Holmes' sling.

JENNIFER GARNER

Alias actress and wife of Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner enjoys wearing her Hotsling as well as her Oopa Baby Sling in black pique with floral ribbon edging. Jennifer also uses an Ultimate Baby Wrap which I have been told in good faith is available at Babies R Us.

TORI SPELLING

Tori Spelling is reputed to love her Hotsling. Guess it's just a 90210 thing since Jason Priestley has one too.

Tori also uses a Sakura Bloom sling.

HEIDI KLUM

Supermodel Heidi Klum and wife of musician Seal keeps fit by carrying her two children around in a Sakura Bloom sling. Pattern unknown.

KAREN ELSON

The lovely redhead model Karen Elson adores her Hotsling. So too does husband Jack White of rock band The White Stripes. Hotslings cost anywhere from $44 to $80 and it seems the price is right for many, even famous models and rock musicians.

RACHEL WEISZ

English actress Rachel Weisz can be seen carrying her little boy around in a denim New Native Baby Carrier.
