"Bachelor" Brad and Emily Breakup Official

Emily Maynard could soon be cast in the role of "The Bachelorette." That's the scoop going around the internet today after news of her official breakup with Brad Womack. Thenews of the split circulated this morning faster than Ashley Hebert fell head over heels for Bentley Williams. People.com ran with the story of another failed "The Bachelor" romance today. But the speculation that Brad and Emily had drifted apart seemed to hit well before the official news emerged today. The two were seemingly struggling to make things work as soon as the "After the Final Rose" special. It just didn't seem to be clicking and now the two have decided to go separate ways.

News and updates of Emily not wearing her ring seemed to be the biggest clue as to the potential breakup months ago. So Emily put a rest to those rumors today by opening up in the People story. Emily told the magazine she was no longer "engaged" shortly after filming an interview with "The Bachelor" host Chris Harrison that will air July 11.

Does anyone else see the potential for a future "Bachelorette" since this news is out? Is this timing perfect for Emily to make that announcement as "The Bachelorette" or will we be waiting until July 11 to see what this interview is about? It would appearEmily Maynard getting cast as "The Bachelorette" is a given considering she would have been perfect for the role last time-the unfortunate thing for that happening is that Emily was picked by Brad. Instead of a happy romance, the two never really seemed to make things work so now a new door might just be opened for her appearance on the show. Emily was viewed as a favorite and it appeared many people were upset when she was initially predicted to get the boot by Bachelor Brad in lieu of Chantal.

Now it seems the Emily Brad breakup will offer her that opportunity. If she accepts, it could be one of the highest rated shows in the franchise considering her popularity the last time she was on the ABC reality television show. Could producers cast her immediately and provide back to back "Bachelorettes" this time around? That would mean the show might skip "The Bachelor" or push it aside until Emily makes her appearance. It is, afterall, a show mostly watched by a female audience. So wouldn't females be more interested in seeing a gang of guys instead of a gaggle of girls to choose from? Not only that, the females would enjoy seeing one female have her dreams come true instead of having several females get the shaft, right?

It appears that "The Bachelorette" role would be Emily's to have if she so chooses. The producers of the reality television show wouldn't be sad if that season started sooner than later. If they want to strike while the iron is hot-in this case, the iron is the Emily Brad recent official breakup, then now is a better time than later to capitalize on her popularity.

And the timing seems to be significant here. Emily meets and does an interview with Chris Harrison. She immediately tells People she broke up with Brad. Doesn't that seem like the tables are being set and the wheels are in motion for an Emily appearance as "The Bachelorette?" It certainly appears that way from an outsider fan looking inperspective.

The truth is that this Emily Brad breakup seemed inevitable following the "After the Final Rose" special. Producers of the show had to be wondering when and if it would become official so they could toss Emily back into the mix in front of 25 happening guys. Is it worth skipping or delaying "The Bachelor?" Could ABC potentially do both shows at the same time or are people just way too scatter-brained to follow both? When the overall network televisionratings are in consistent decline, it might not be a bad idea for ABC to throw two reality shows onat once. The only problem might be splitting up the duties of Chris Harrison. That would mean he would have to be in close proximity to both groups--so that doesn't seem ultra likely for the franchise. Still, it's an interesting idea to toy with. Can you imagine the fireworks if both "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" were filming in close proximity to one another? Talk about one big party! Oh, the drama.

Back to the point at hand-Emily seems to have a lock on "The Bachelorette" if she wants it. When that show will air if she chooses to go for it is uncertain. Whether ABC would opt for back to back "The Bachelorette" seasons is also unclear. The only thing clear today is that the Emily Brad breakup is finally official. That just opens the door for another serial participant to make a return to the reality franchise. And that's not really a bad thing at all in this case, is it? I wastotally against having Bachelor Brad back in house for a second go. But ultimately, it wasn't really that bad of a show considering the results didn't quite pan out. In the end, it gave us a broken hearted Emily Maynard who just might make incredible "Bachelorette" material. At least that's the guaranteed way producers of the show will spin it if she opts to commit to the new "journey(in my best "Bachelorette" speak.)
