Bachelor Pad Series Premiere Quickly Gets Twisted Up in Drama
Episode 1 of Bachelor Pad Starts with a Game of Twister, Ends in Double Elimination
Bachelor Pad Contestants Meet
The series premiere began with a huge meet and greet, as contestants arrived at the mansion. Turns out some of the cast has already done some hooking up in the past. Here's the dirt, in order of the seasons each appeared on:
'The Bachelor' Season 2 (Aaron)
- Gwen Gioia: A huge deal is made about her age (she should be around 40), but she looks younger and fresher than most of the other girls.
'The Bachelorette' Season 5 (Jillian)
- David Good: Famously dislikes Juan B.
- Jesse Kovacs: May or may not be property of Elizabeth K. Known as the "wine guy."
- Juan Barbieri: Dated and dumped Nikki K.
- Kiptyn Locke: Excellent abs. Has been on a date with Tenley.
- Wes Hayden: Looking for fame and fortune, instead of love. Will the same hold true this time around?
'The Bachelorette' Season 6 (Ali)
- Jonathan Novack: Guitar-playing weatherman.
- Craig McKinnon: "The Weatherman's" nemesis.
- Jesse Beck: Tattooed charmer who loves his dogs.
'The Bachelor' Season 7 (Charlie)
- Krisily Kennedy: Tough attitude that may be off-putting.
'The Bachelor' Season 10 (Andy)
- Peyton Wright: The officer and a gentleman left her on a ship deck, as he helicoptered off with another woman.
'The Bachelor' Season 13 (Jason)
- Natalie Getz: Likes bears. Seriously. Sent home after her one-on-one date.
- Nikki Kappke: Was involved with Juan B. Might be looking for revenge.
'The Bachelor' Season 14 (Jake)
- Ashley Elmore: Remember that flight attendant costume? Expect some surprises from this one.
- Elizabeth Kitt: Had Jake make out with her forehead. Yes, forehead. This newly dyed blond has dibs on Kovacs.
- Gia Allemand: Super-hot swimsuit model with major insecurities.
- Michelle Kujawa: Sent home mid-date. Fellow cast members think she's crazy.
- Jesse Sulidis: Outspoken and sometimes confrontational.
- Tenley Molzhan: Sweet as sugar and pure as the driven snow. Well, if you don't count her first marriage. Might be a surprise threat.
The Rules & Surprise Bachelor Pad Co-Host
Chris Harrison is joined by another familiar face, Melissa Rycroft. The former Bachelorette will be his new co-host. They explain the rules to the cast. Each week, the guys and girls will compete against each other in a challenge. The winner of that challenge will receive an immunity rose and the chance to choose who to take on a group date. The winner then gets to give one of their dates an immunity rose.
A guy and a girl will be voted off each episode. The guys will vote off the girls and vice versa. Harrison did note that there were more girls than guys, due to more seasons of The Bachelor, than The Bachelorette. He forewarned that, at some point, the show would make up for this. The last person left in the Bachelor Pad wins $250,000.
Pool Time & the First Bachelor Pad Challenge
The contestants skip out to the pool to show off hard bods and have an excuse to be wearing swimsuits in the first challenge. The girls decide to vote off Craig M. if they win. Some on the basis that they know him the least, others because they thought he was a creep on The Bachelorette.
The first challenge is guys against girls Twister. This put the skimpily clad girls in some interesting contortions, often right in the faces of the grateful guys. Soon Jesse S. is the only woman left, against six guys. Elizabeth lets loose on her supposed "dislike" of Craig, so of course the competition comes down to Craig and Jesse. Jesse suggests that no matter which one wins, they should include the other on the date.
Craig is the final victor, scoring the elimination rose and a group date. Suddenly, the ladies aren't so much against him, as they don't really know him and would like to. I bet. Except Elizabeth. Having said she would rather "slit her wrists" than go on the date with Craig, she decides to play the "He should win me over challenge card." They chat and it's obvious she will be included. It almost seems like a producer set-up.
Bedtime & Morning Drama
Turns out all 19 competitors have to sleep in one room, dorm-style. Luckily for us viewers, there's a night camera. There is some smooching sounds, which Tenley tells everyone in the morning was Michelle and Craig. Everyone believes her, because Glenda the Good Witch is a lying bitch compared to Tenley. It occurs to me that she may have realized $250k is a whole lot more attractive than most of the men there.
Bachelor Pad's First Group Date
It's time for the first group date. Craig reads the card, which is some nonsense about having to cool off to heat up or something inane. He keeps his pact with Jesse and picks her first. He surprises everyone by choosing Gwen and of course Elizabeth was invited.
The date took place at the beach, with Elizabeth amping up her intense flirting techniques. She kept angling for Craig to kiss her and let him know he was having a bit of success winning her (and her supposed pull with the other girls) over.
Joining Melissa at the Greek Theater, Elizabeth was perturbed when Craig gave the immunity rose to Jesse. The couple was treated to a private concert by Alex Band.
Things Heat Up Back at the Bachelor Pad
At the mansion, Natalie and Jesse Beck are very friendly. Kovacs confronts Elizabeth about telling everyone they were an item. She basically threatens him to love her and do what she says or she will turn the full eliminating wrath of the ladies on him.
We are supposed to believe that Michelle came unhinged and locked Tenley in the bathroom and yelled at her for spreading rumors. Meanly. Maybe even called her a name. So of course Tenley is afraid for her life and hysterically bawling.
Elimination Day Strategies
With the threat of elimination upon them, everyone is trying to build alliances. Juan tries to apologize to Niki, but she knows it's fake. Krisily tries to convince the girls to vote off the strong men. Natalie immediately toddles off to tell Dave, who tries to turn the men against Krisily.
Elizabeth tries to convince the girls that her love for Kovacs is pure and he is doing her wrong. She then twists it around and tells him that it's the girls who want to vote him off for how he treats her. He decides to do whatever Elizabeth wants. This is a woman who works her drama on a whole other level.
Double Elimination
The Bachelor Pad contestants now have to individually vote by dropping the picture of the person they want voted off into a box. Craig lies to Michelle and tells her he didn't vote her off. Nikki puts Juan's photo in the box.
In the driveway elimination ceremony, it came down to Juan, Kovacs, Krisily and Michelle. Juan and Michelle are asked to leave.
