Bachelorette Ali Picks Roberto!

Last Monday night ABC's Bachlorette Ali Fedotowsky accepted Roberto Martinez's proposal, Roberto accepted the final rose, and maybe gave Bachelorette fans the fairy tale ending they've been waiting for.

The Bachelorette Had Us on the Edge of our Seats

The previews of this final episode of this season of The Bachelorette had us braced that Ali just might walk away empty-handed. Jimmy Kimmel alluded to this possibility on his show and right before the final scene, Roberto even sounded unsure. He shared with the camera his internal dialogue about not proposing unless he was sure it was right, and we thought he might be getting cold feet.

But First Ali Sends Chris Home Early

Ali showed tremendous compassion for finalist, Chris Lambton, by telling him goodbye a day early. After her final date with Roberto, (and hearing his profession of love for her), she confessed to the camera that she just couldn't go on the date the next day with Chris. And she didn't.

Ali's visit with Chris was heartbreaking. After sharing how much he was looking forward to time with her, here comes Ali knocking at the door. She tactfully explains to Chris that she can't put him through those final moments of wondering who she has chosen and says goodbye. She saved him the heartbreak of getting down on bended knee only to be shot down in front of millions of fans. She saved him from that fateful limo ride with a camera in his face, as he tries to maintain composure. While those moments are what reality TV is made of, I have always found them nothing but cruel sensationalism. I applaud Ali for caring enough about Chris to say goodbye in style.

And Then That Rainbow!

After Ali left Chris, he stood on his deck, broken-hearted, when a glorious rainbow suddenly filled up the sky. This was an especially emotional moment, because Chris's Mom recently passed away and had told him to look for her in rainbows. Everyone on the set and probably most of us at home, watched in amazement at the timing.

After the Final Rose

Ali reunited with Chris on the After the Final Rose show and it was obvious that their respect and attraction for one another still exists. But it was also obvious, once Roberto joined her, that magic actually happened on this season of The Bachelorette. Maybe it's the way their eyes connected, or how their bodies melded into one another like magnets as they sat on the couch, or their playful nature as a couple, or how they couldn't look at each other without locking lips. Whatever it is, Ali and Roberto just seem to fit!

Neither The Bachelor or The Bachelorette Shows have delivered the results that romantic types have hoped for in past seasons, with only a few couples truly finding a lasting relationship. But this one feels differently. Both Ali and Roberto confirmed what most of us noticed during their initial encounter and what Ali admitted she never believed in before the show: Love at First Sight. They admitted that almost immediately they were love struck. Maybe those first impression roses really do mean something!

What Does the Future Hold for Bachelorette Ali and Roberto? And What About Chris?

Things look promising for this couple. Roberto has already moved his things and insurance business from the East Coast to San Diego, and Ali will be moving her things there in the next few weeks. And when Chris Harrison asked them if wedding plans were in the air, they mentioned a 2011 Summer wedding, and on the Jimmy Kimmel show, they moved it up to Spring!

I loved Ali as The Bachelorette, and I'll bet that she is ecstatic that she left Bachelor Jake Pavelka to Vienna during her stint on The Bachelor! I predict that Ali and Roberto will be one of the few couples from The Bachelorette that make it. Further, I have a hunch that we may see Chris back as the new Bachelor. If not, he will probably be getting millions of proposals through his fan mail! Ali and Roberto just might show us that love can be found on our favorite reality show, and then we can lift our drinks in a collective toast and say, "Amazing!"
