Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas Picks Her Final Two

A Review of the Bachelorette

Season 4 of ABC's The Bachelorette has been a good one. Monday night's episode was one of the best yet, as DeAnna Pappas (the former spurned love of season 11's Bachelor Brad Womack, who dumped both Pappas and her rival, Jenni, during that season's final rose ceremony) got her chance to whittle her picks down to the final 2. Well, by the end of last night's episode my jaw dropped.

The one on one overnight dates occurred, and DeAnna went back to the Fantasy Suite with each and every guy. Of course, the camera stops behind closed doors so no one knows what actually went on in there, but suffice it to say it must have had a lot of influence on her final decision.

Pappas chose cutie single father Jason Mesnik-- no surprise there. The guy seems really into her and they have a casual, natural relationship. Plus, DeAnna wants to be a mom real soon and Jason already has a little boy of his own named Ty. Ready-made family!

What blew me away- and most of America- was her second choice. She chose Jesse Csincsak- the free spirited snowboarder who looks nothing like her knight in shining armor, leaving ultra hunky (albeit rather gloomy) contender Jeremy Anderson in the dust.

For a show that seems plenty staged at times (well, certainly strategically edited anyway) this episode was especially good because it showed some real, raw emotion. Just when you couldn't stomach any more of Jason's goo-goo , love struck eyes, you got to see Jeremy's shocked reaction when DeAnna didn't give him a rose. He was stunned, as was I, but it made for some great TV. He wasn't faking it- the man was truly flabbergasted.

Both "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" have gotten some flack for not being able to produce lasting relationships. The one big success story, former Bachelorette Trista Rehn and her final pick, Ryan Sutter, are reoccurring guests on Bachelor and Bachelorette reunion shows. You know the producers are looking for filler when you see more footage of Trista and Ryan's wedding or of their baby Max.

So, lest anyone think that DeAnna plans to "pull a Womack" (meaning not picking either guy at the end), last night's episode was followed by a "Bachelors Tell All" show. At the end of that entertaining hour, DeAnna assured the viewers that not only is she very happy with the results of the show, but she is also very engaged.

Sure. But is it to one of these guys?

Great review! Can't believe you were surprised at the Jesse choice. Although Jesse and Jason are neck and neck in the nice guy department, Jesse has one thing that Jason does NOT. Jesse will keep a woman excited and interested for a lifetime. Jason will get boring after awhile. If she doesn't want Jesse she can send him myy way!
