Back Pain Try a Bed of Nails

New Modern Day Version of the "bed of Nails" Gaining Popularity

Debbie
Most Americans endure back pain at least one time while others endure chronic back pain. As shown on the CBS "Early Show". The bed of nails is modernized compared to the bed of nails seen in times long ago.

According to the bed of nails site it works much like acupuncture. It is noted that these rounded nails (more than 8,000 pointy spikes) when applied against the skin are said to help release the endorphins (bodies own natural pain killers) and provide a person with pain relief leaving you feeling calm and relaxed.

Preliminary research studies have shown that when the mat is used for 15 minutes a day for three weeks it did patients peak levels of pain. Also, back temperatures were higher than in comparison to a traditional mattress providing increased circulation.

As in all products there is a warning attached to the bed of nails. Stating it does have sharp plastic nails attached to one side. It does warn to please keep away from children and pets. This product should not be used in cases of skin irritations, haemophilia or if you are taking anticoagulants. Consult your practitioner before use. As like most products use at own risk.

You can purchase it online through several retailers. Amazon has a list price of $72.00.

If you use alternative therapies but are not comfortable with the nail aspect there are other treatments available.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic care has been around for ages when it comes to dealing with back pain and other conditions. Spinal manipulations have been proven safe and effective plus they boost the immune system. It aides in decreasing pain and less medication use if you are on medications. Chiropractic care is one of the most widely used forms of alternative therapies today.

Acupuncture/Acupressure

Acupuncture uses fine needles inserted into the energy pathways. Acupuncture helps lower back pain due to the placement of needles in the back, elbows and even hands usually. Each acupuncturist has their own methods of acupuncture to treat pain. Acupuncture opens the pathways in which are blocking the energy pathways. Acupressure is similar minus the use of needles.
