During your vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains, traffic of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville is unavoidable. However, there are several back roads in the area that will cut the amount of time spent in traffic. Within this guide, traveling from Sevierville to Pigeon Forge on these back roads will be easier than sitting in traffic for an hour up to three. These back roads are not winding mountain roads, but major routes used on a daily basis.

1. Sevierville to Pigeon Forge

Traveling south on Winfield Dunn Parkway (Hwy 66) during peak travel season will surely result in time being stuck in traffic. With this route, the majority of traffic from Sevierville to Pigeon Forge will be eliminated.

From Winfield Dunn Parkway (Hwy 66) turn left on Dolly Parton Parkway, next look for Veterans Boulevard, and turn right the traffic light. Veterans Boulevard runs all the way to Pigeon Forge traffic light #8

2. Collier Drive to Veterans Boulevard (To Pigeon Forge)

If you missed turning right on Dolly Parton Parkway and have made it through Sevierville before hitting traffic, Collier Drive will take you a good portion around the traffic of Pigeon Forge.

At the intersection of Wal-mart, simply take a left onto Collier Drive, follow Collier drive, and then turn right onto Veterans Boulevard. Veterans Boulevard will take you past Dollywood to Pigeon Forge traffic light #8

3. Teaster Lane Bypass

If you have made it passed Wal-mart and into Pigeon Forge before traffic. Tester Lane will take you around the majority of traffic of Pigeon Forge

At traffic light #2, turn left onto Tester Lane. Simply follow this road until merges with Veterans Boulevard. Turn right onto Veterans Boulevard until you reach traffic light #8.

Hopefully with these three routes, your time in traffic will be cut significantly. Now you will be able to enjoy the scenery of the area instead of sitting in traffic for hours. The amount of traffic in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville all depends on the season in which you are traveling. During the summer months using these routes will save you time, however during the winter months, traffic of the area is not congested and the parkway can be traveled fairly easily. Now with the knowledge of these routes, instead of sitting in traffic, your vacation will be spent at all the shopping, dining, and entertainment that Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville has to offer.
