Going back to school gives me mixed feelings and emotions. I am too excited at first. I showed enthusiasm from inquiry to enrollment. Actually I am the first student who enrolled for the summer class.
Till the first day of the summer class came. I am too excited to share the feeling to everyone that I am finally back to school though there is a certain anxiety I feel that I can't explain. It's too awkward and I felt I am too old for school at my age.
As I entered the room, the students gladly welcome me and asked the usual questions. What's my name, where do I live, but the hardest question I have to answer is how old I am; for I am now 31 yrs old and feel uneasy when asked of such.
I went at the back row seat to see them all. Our teacher came in and formally welcomed me in the class. Thank God I did my task to have an advance review of the subject by searching the subject "educational technology" in the internet. The teacher asked us to write how well we know the subject. Maybe this is to pre-assess us.
Three days passed in full grace of God. Why I said so? It is because I really don't have a clear idea of what we are dealing with. From a technical mind with a brief and concise description of everything, I have to elaborate things with a detailed use of adjectives. Oh what a hard-pressed week that was for me.
My love for education had driven me to try my best catching up with the subject by reading more books about teaching and education. I borrowed books from my classmates of their previous subjects and searched meanings of different and unfamiliar terms in the internet. At last, after a week I can confidently say that I can get along with the subjects well. I can now understand terms the teachers discuss and can share my thoughts and ideas about the subject.
I really believe education is for all. It means no boundaries; no age requirement; no hard topics to learn. It's not too late to study and gain knowledge. Especially to those who have the heart to learn and share that learning to others. So if you feel an urgency of going back to school, don't hesitate; follow your heart's desire; and enjoy the privilege of learning as long as the opportunity is within your reached.
