To create unique locker magnets for a stylish locker space full of personality, work together with your child to come up with a locker theme. A wonderful way to recycle advertising magnets received in the mail, this back to school craft can be made with materials you likely have around the house. If you don't have extra magnets, you can also find magnets for crafting at craft stores and office supply locations. The thin flexible magnets are easy to work with and can be cut into different shapes and since the locker magnets are intended more for decoration than to be holding items in the locker, they do not have to be very powerful.
To find items for decorating the locker magnets, look through magazines, old school flyers or calendars and cut out appropriate images. Other locker magnet decoration possibilities could include fun photos from vacation or create a school-themed design using cardstock or other paper you have around the house. To attach the design the magnet, you will also need craft glue, paint brush and some cardboard or newspaper to protect your work surface.
Putting the Locker Magnets Together - Easy and Fun Back to School Craft
Once you have all the materials necessary for putting your locker magnets together, let the fun begin. Pour a quarter-size spot of white glue onto an old plastic lid or paper plate and add a few drops of water to thin the glue. Cut out the images you intend to use for the magnet. Using a paint brush, dip the paint brush into the water and glue mixture to coat the side of the magnet you will be applying the image to. Place the image on top of the glue mixture. Then gently coat the image with additional glue mixture. Set aside and let dry. Once the locker magnet is dry, it is ready to use.
