Back to School: How to Find the Perfect Netbook for School

Evan Tooley
Netbooks are the newest and biggest thing to hit the market for students. Netbooks were first thought of as just a fad by most vendors, but now vendors are going crazy trying to selling them.

There are so many different brands of netbooks out now it's hard to figure out which one would be best for you. This has become an issue for most students and what makes the decision even more difficult is the fact the netbooks have almost the same hardware set up.

This is a guide to help you find the netbook that would be the best meet your needs for school.

CPU

Most netbooks have the same CPU so this shouldn't be an issue when making your decision. The two options that should be available is the Intel Atom N270 and the N280. The only difference between these two products is that the N280 is slightly faster than the N270.

Memory

Netbooks today should have about 1GB of Ram, which should be enough for whatever your needs are. Unless you are using your netbook for more than just for browsing and working on papers.

Space

If you want speed rather than space than there are a few netbooks that you might want to look into that have a Solid State Drive or SSD. The only bad thing about these netbooks is the fact they have no real memory.

If you understand and like using the cloud concept then you should choose a netbook that has a Solid State Drive.

If you are wanting something for gaming then the netbook is not an option for you, these are made more for homework, browsing, note taking, etc and not gaming. The best resolution you will get with a netbook is 1024 x 600.

Keyboards

Netbooks have a smaller keyboard than computers due to their overall size. You should test out different netbooks before buying so that you know you will be comfortable with the size of the keyboard, especially if you have large hands. If you really need a netbook with a full size keyboard the closest you will get is with the HP, Samsung, or Toshiba netbooks.

Battery

Netbooks generally have a battery life of up to 5-6 hours depending on how long you allow the netbook to charge. You will want to make sure that you get a 6 cells battery to receive a 5-6 hour battery life. One charge should be enough to allow you to use your netbook during the day for school or work whatever you are using it for.

Looks

Netbooks come in a rainbow of colors for you to choose from, you can pick a color that matches your personality and style. If you follow this guide you will be able to find the perfect netbook to fit your needs.
