A Sampling of Book Bags for High School Girls

JanSport Adrenaline Series Boost Backpack
This understated backpack is a great choice for teen girls who dislike anything too frilly. The rounded shape is just a teensy bit feminine, but there are no flowers or bows. The pack is very attractive in solid Blue Ridge; it also comes in white, red or black. The Boost has a fully padded back panel and ergonomic AirCore shoulder straps for comfort and back health. The two main compartments are roomy, one with a padded computer sleeve that will accommodate a 17-inch laptop. The V-loft pocket, front organizer pocket, and side bottle holders offer storage for tons of smaller items. The backpack is made of a combination of polyester hex ripstop, 800-denier polyester ballistic, and scorpion cloth, which makes for a sturdy bag that will take a real beating. A great choice for teen girls on the go!

Belkin Slim Backpack Series
This line of backpacks comes in a number of sizes, that will accommodate up to a 17-inch laptop computer. The backpacks are slim and feminine, but they can carry a pretty large load including high school or college textbooks. Again the look is understated: black with a hint of pink, red, or green or blue, for example. I saw one model that was pink and white, but frankly didn't find it as attractive. The backpacks come with an accessory pouch for your teen to tote a power supply and cables for her computer, which makes it perfect for a girl who lives part-time with each parent, or one who totes her laptop around a lot for studying with friends or at the library. As I said in another discussion of backpacks, the computer sleeve can be used for other purposes too, such as carrying a slim binder or a few notebooks or assignment folders. This backpack expands as needed, so it keeps its slim profile when the extra space is not needed. The exterior is water resistant, and the backpack itself lightweight. There is an inner pocket for an MP3 player, with a cord port to allow for listening during long bus rides.

High Sierra Wilder
I really think this backpack looks sharp in Blue Velvet and Pacific, but there were a number of other options that were just as pretty, like the pink plaid or the earthy "Forgotten Flower" pattern. This is another slim looking pack that will hold up to a 17-inch laptop computer, but it has a lot more bells and whistles than the Belkin. It features a zippered slash pocket and organizer compartment in the front, large mesh compartments for water bottles or extra storage, and padded back panel and shoulder straps. A hook and loop closure secures the cell phone pocket built into the shoulder strap. Secure pockets will also hold both an MP3 player and a PDA.

DaKine Girls Wonder Pack
Because girls can skateboard too, this DaKine backpack is a great option for your high school student. The bag comes in a huge variety of styles, from dark solids through bright floral or geometric prints. The pink plaid is hot, as are the brilliant poppy red of the Island Floral and the tie-dye look of Watercolor. The pack has bungee storage and board straps on the front, and side mesh pockets to carry water bottles or extra gear. While not designed for toting around computers or large textbooks, this is a pack that will appeal to an athletic girl who needs to carry a few paperbacks or small notebooks, extra clothing, and other small gear. The secret sunglasses pocket has a very large capacity, and by itself will hold several electronic devices as well as the glasses.

DaKine Scooler Backpack and Lunch Bag
This backpack and lunch bag ensemble is stunning in the cobalt Monoblue, but comes in a range of dark shades and cool patterns too. It's great for the girl who always has trouble keeping it all together - or for a very together girl who appreciates coordinating pieces. The insulated lunch bag fits into a front compartment of the backpack, or can be carried separately. Side expandable mesh pockets can be used to carry beverages or other gear. The pack also includes a sunglasses pocket and bungee storage with reflective details, a great feature for a girl who often leaves school after dark.

When I was a teen girl, we never carried so much stuff around :) Nowadays, kids need a backpack or a suitcase! just to make it thru the day. Good tips, cheers :)
