It may sound strange to you the first time but you can enjoy the many pleasures of camping without leaving your premises. The major benefit of backyard camping is of course that you will be close to your home. But the problem is that it may not seem like camping if you can't avoid the temptation of going back home frequently. However, to make it seem more real you can plan your camping out in such a way that you will not need to go back home for the backyard camping period.
Your plan should be such that you backyard camping is not interrupted by the need to go back into the house frequently. Make a list of all the things you will need for the duration of your camping such as camping equipment, snacks, food, drinks and other things you will need. Take these along with you so that there is no need to go back into the house. If you have forgotten to pack something that you can do without then pretend that you are in a real camp and make do without it. The necessity to improvise and adjust is an essential part of the pleasures of camping. Many people enjoy the unpredictability.
Whether you are camping away from home or you are camping in your backyard the important things to consider are the sleeping materials that you will need. Depending on the weather and your choice you may choose to sleep in a tent or under the open sky you will need appropriate material. If you choose to sleep in a tent then you will need to be sure that all the pieces and equipment necessary to pitch the tent are available. You can always set up your tent in advance so that any repairs or replacements necessary can be taken care of earlier.
On the other hand if you are planning to sleep under the stars on blankets then having the right information about weather is very important. The predicted weather must be appropriate for sleeping in the open. You will need your sleeping bags or blankets in both cases of sleeping in a tent and sleeping in the open. The other things that you will need are air mattresses or pillows. If you need to purchase them then these things are available in most department stores or sports shops.
You have to plan ahead for meals and snacks. The snacks suitable for campers are cookies, dry fruits, pretzels and other dry food items. Keeping some food items in outside ice coolers will also ensure uninterrupted camping. You will need to pack toys like water guns, a Frisbee, balls, base ball equipment and anything else that you and your family members enjoy. With a little planning there is no reason why you will need to miss your camping trip.
